California Gardener's Guide Reviews
I have recently relocated from Zone 5 to Zone 9B. This book has been helpful with the transition. While it is by no means an encyclopedia, t is a good introduction to gardening in California. I have used it as a reference several times. There are sections on trees, shrubs, citrus, houseplants, ground cover, flowers, bulbs, annuals, and more.
A good reference for California Gardeners. As a reference book, I refer to it often and will take it with me to nurseries and plant sales. I find several typos and editing errors (careless, lack of proofreading), but not serious factual errors that I can tell.
This is an excellent, easy-to-use reference book. The authors' philosophies in plant growth gives this book a personal perspective of true plant lovers which is a nice change from other (equally useful) gardening guides. Each plant "visited" is given a nice little introduction and along with the typical "how to grow, plant, which season" instructions, the authors give you a companion guide as well, telling you which plants compliment which. It's pretty handy! I love this book and consult it when I need new ideas and good plant tips.
This book has EVERY plant, shrub, bush, flower, tree, weed, grass, vegetable, fruit, etc. that I have found growing on our property! Very impressive
This gardener's guide is a good resource for a 1st time Jersey girl in Southern California. Informative, easy to read and well written.
