I would like to thank the author for a free copy of the book in return for an honest review. This book 4 and the last book in the redeeming the rakes series and follows Julia, a governess with a secret and Charles the Marquis of Chiltern, who is grieving the loss of his wife. Blackwood has delivered another well thought out, unique regency romance. I like the little plot twists.

Can love come again after your wife was lost in childbirth of your daughter? Charles Harding, the Marquess of Chiltern has only love for this daughter and no thoughts of another Marchioness. Miss Julia Mallory needs to earn her own way and becomes governess to Charles's daughter. As an attraction develops, Julia can only hold tight to her secrets while Charles fights as hard as he can against his feelings. An enjoyable read that will take you through hidden secrets, emotional characters and fears of exposure. Part of the Redeeming the Rakes series this can be read as a standalone. Well worth the read!

I was gifted a copy of this book. When Miss Julia Mallory is hired by the Marquis of Chiltern, Charles Harding to be governess to his young daughter Annabelle, Julia has no idea that her heart is about to be conquered by the dark handsome Marquis. Do they have a chance for happiness being from different social spheres? And what will happen if the Marquis discovers Julia’s dark secret?I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Ms. Blackwood spins a wonderful tale weaving excitement, romance and treachery all in one delightful fabric.“What emotion lay behind that rose-lipped and wide-eyed expression – fear, perhaps? Gratitude? He chided himself for wasting so much of their journey in silence. Despite the ever-present guilt, Julia was a mystery he wanted to uncover.”I highly recommend this book. It is a sweet and clean romance.

This is a wonderful Regency romance. Charles Harding, Marquess of Chiltern, loves his 6-year-old daughter Annabelle, but doesn’t spend much time with her because that is where his wife died in childbirth. Through the Dowager Duchess of Westbourne’s recommendation, Julia Mallory becomes Annabelle’s governess. However, Charles doesn’t know who Julia really is. Charles is attracted to Julia, but doesn’t want to be. Julia is attracted to Charles, but there can never be anything between someone of her social standing and a marquess. This story kept me interested from beginning to end because of secrets and the fear of exposure; interesting characters; suspense; wondering if or how things could possibly work out for a happy ending. This is a book I would recommend to everyone. I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my honest review of the story.

This story was truly delightful and I loved every second of it!The characters, even the evil brother, were all well thought out and this is communicated by the way that Gemma Blackwood has described their characters as well as their actions. It has a lovely lady acting as a governess by the name of Julia, a swoon worthy Marquess and his young daughter, Annabelle, and then there is Julia's evil stepbrother and a variety of other supporting characters all of whom make this story come to life and it moves swiftly along but like all good things it eventually comes to very pleasing end. Thank goodness Gemma has written more books for us to enjoy!

This was another lovely book in the Redeeming the Rakes Series. This story was about Marquess of Chiltern and Julia Mallory characters we have met previously in the series. Both are dealing with their pasts, the Marquees the loss of his wife and Julia is trying to hide her past from those around. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and also seeing characters from the previous books.I tend to enjoy Ms Blackwood's story telling and this book did not disappoint. It was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Julia Mallory takes the post of governess to the daughter of Charles Harding, Marquess of Chiltern. They have an attraction to each other but Julia is aware of their differences in station. Charles is not concerned about it. However, Julia’s despicable brother also has a part to play and there is a surprise for Julia. An entertaining read that moves along at a good pace. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed. This is my honest review.

I received a copy from the author (and then I bought it); this is my honest review.Good editing. Good progress in all the characters' descriptions. Loved them all, even the villains. Good, clean story of mixed classes. Main characters from other books appear here and there and of course they are all still disgracefully in love!

With an unusual start and good humour throughout this book it is very enjoyable. despite the pall of death, keeping a past life hidden, kidnapping and other fears there is a happy though unconventional ending. But the most fun is in getting to that ending in what is a good plot. Very enjoyable reading.

This book was excellent. The characters are all well developed. The interaction between the Marquess and Julia is compelling, yet they both try to keep things proper between them. The past never stays in the past and soon it is at Julia's doorstep or in this case the Marquess of Chiltern's. I loved how the Marquess overcame the obstacles to claim Julia. Well worth the read.

Sweet!Another terrific story from Ms Blackwood. The characters had their own story that created the chemistry between them with the right amount of mystery and intrigue. All this and it's clean, too.

The Marquess of Chiltern still mourns the wife he lost in childbirth. Julia Mallory is hiding from her past and is keeping secrets. When Charles hires her as governess to his daughter, she first falls in love with Lady Annabelle, then with her father. Charles is attracted to Julia, although he tries to resist. Is it possible that the two of them can find love, and if they do, will it help heal the pain of the past? This is a sweet and emotional story. There is also danger and suspense. Charles and Julia are great characters. Lady Annabelle is precious. A really nice read. The book was a gift. The review my own.
