a kiss of crimson Reviews
In a world where human are warned of vampires and werewolves is school, Sadie feels abandoned by love. She’s an old soul who wants more than a frat boy pawing at her. In love with art and history, she is looking for a mature man that can show her what love is really all about. Unlike her best friend, she doesn’t want some club-hopping player, she longs for the love of a lifetime. And while out with her friend, she sees a man that sets her heart fluttering. But with her luck in the love department, he is most likely mentally putting her into the friend zone. But maybe, just maybe, he wants more. Enter Byron.Byron has been stalking Sadie. After seeing her around campus, he is attracted to her like no other. A forbidden love, he just can’t seem to stay away from her. A vampire and a mortal. Is he willing to risk the anger of his sire to be with her? When she meets his eyes across the room filled with writhing bodies mimicking sex acts to the beats of loud music, he just can’t seem to help himself. When he finds her fighting off the advances of a clumsy, drunk man, he saves her, takes her home, and tucks her safely into bed. He is no longer able to stay out of her life and wants her like no other. Sadie is a woman after my own heart. Tired of being friend zoned but wanting so much more, she is holding out for the love of her life. She is an intelligent woman who isn’t afraid to fight for what she wants. She doesn’t back down, even when threats of disembowelment comes at her from Byron sire. She decides that he is worth fighting. She believes that experiencing true love, even for a short time is worth risking her life. Byron’s character is a well-written one. He has been alive for centuries, and his sire is a spiteful woman. He is growing tired of her actions against him. She is the perfect foe to stand against. The secondary characters, supernatural and human alike, make the story move along quickly. It is easy to get lost in the longing and struggle of Sadie and Byron. It had me wishing for a love like theirs while wanting to experience the ecstasy of a vampire's bite. Christina Quinn’s take on the supernatural is an interesting one that has thoroughly seduced me. It is the beginning of a wonderful storyline that continues into the next book of The Little Red Book series. I look forward to the next installment of the series. Christina Quinn has successfully captivated this reader, congratulations!
This is a nice read. The author created a believable world where vampires and werewolves live among humans and humans accept them. The humans go as far as educating their species in school. Of course you have some vampires who believe they are the superior race, werewolves, alpha doms' and the submissive. The storyline was great. Definitely had me hanging on page for page the entire book. I ca not wait to read the next book. Received this book as an ARC for my honest review
I did like this book but there were several reasons why I didn’t rate it higher, which I’ll explain throughout this review. I did like the twist taken on the supernatural in the aspect that humans know they exist and are actually taught about them in school. One of my pet peeves is when I am not invested in characters enough when they declare their love for each other. Byron and Sadie are saying I love you after only a few short encounters. It’s stated that they’ve grown close but the readers don’t get to read about it. Their story was set up nicely for the future books and I do want to know what’s going to happen. Another biggie for me is the lack of a good edit. There were way too many grammatical mistakes and often made it hard to focus on the story. I look forward to Byron growing a pair in the next book and putting up a good fight.
This is my first read from the author. I liked the story and the characters. I think I was looking for something more. Sadie was young and finishing college. She has her best friend who was in and out of relationships. But Sadie met Byron and wasn't sure where they were going. At first he didn't seem interested of her he was mysterious. She was wondering maybe he was a vampire. A story of humans, vampires and werewolves. The reading kept you going.
This was a surprisingly pleasant read. Once again, Christina Quinn builds a world you can lose yourself in, populating it with characters who are memorable and engaging. One thing I have to say, it was nice to see a vampire who didn't come off as an alpha-hole for once. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes their vampire romance on the sweet side and good luck not falling in love with Byron.ARC was given to me by the author in exchange for review.
While the book could use some editing, the story has a good pace and the author does a good job of building the world for this tale. Sadie seems a bit immature at times for a girl finishing college, but the romance between her and Byron kept me turning pages. While the story does end with some unanswered questions and bit of a cliffhanger, which sometimes makes me crazy, I did enjoy the read.
Well this was my first read from this author. Though it was a quick read it was also a detailed read. The background that was given is very much needed and very help full. As the story progresses it sucks you in more. You can sense the over all series plot for the book(s) at he same time you start developing your own questions. Now I could give snip its from the book but the synopsis on the back is just right and draws you to it. Now that I've read this one I can't wait to see what happens next in the second book
