Billy Bobble Makes a Magic Wand Reviews
I love the cover but couldn't quite make out the connection to the story until I read the book further along. Absolutely adorable, no wait ... I was totally dumbfounded and kept telling myself Suzy is annoying but her annoyance came from her intelligence. I started to laugh and figured out why I was bothered, Suzy is twelve and very smart, her intelligence annoyed me. Jealous are we? Okay I confess! Now you have Billy, twelve years old like Suzy and the intelligence to match. Billy disappears and the search is on with Suzy's tenacious drive to find him. There's so much in this book that will keep you glued to the book pages. The comebacks, quips, just facts, sometimes I thought some of the statements were snotty but really it was just facts. Magic and science weaved together perfectly. I was a space cadet reading part of this book but I clearly understood where I was being lead to. Didn't knock it, embrace it and turn it to where I could clearly understand. Huh? I give all the kudos to the author who made this book enjoyable and actually gave me an insight of how a prodigy thinks and what to expect when it comes to their intelligence. Misunderstood, yes majority of the time. Great middle grade novel that deals with issues like bullying, loyalty, friendship, devotion and oh yeah, I forgot this one, finding their footing in this world, no wait the world of science and magic. Even though the protagonists were geniuses the frailties of life knows no bound. Oh, the most important thing I must say, "The Wand." No, I will leave it for now, you have to read the book to find out for yourself. The flow of the story moved along smoothly and the writing kept me anticipating and anxious okay, I must admit flustered. So you see the writing caused these emotions to flow out of me. Bravo!! I received a free digital download for a review through Mother Daughter Book Reviews. Thank you so much, Darlene Cruz
