★★★★! Genie (stand-alone). Burlesque showgirl & Aussie gym owner go head-to-head over control of a building!‘Say something like that to me in public again and it won’t be my tongue in your mouth. It’ll be my cock.’Genie (stand-alone) opens up to Aussie, Abel Kingdom sitting down to enjoy a burlesque show at a rundown club he intends to buy to expand his gym empire to Great Britain. He’s mesmerized by the sultry showgirl. Later he gets to meet the owner’s niece, Genie Divine, Gigi aka Beauty. She’s unaware that her uncle is selling the club and home while Abel fails to recognize the voluptuous dancer. Instead, acting on their insane lust they end up on a date with sexual tension galore. That is until they discover the truth and sparks fly. The story goes on to follow the power struggle and standoff over the building that ensues, with both Able and Genie failing miserable and keeping their hands off each other. But both have pasts and agendas that will unravel with story.Seven words to describe Abel Kingdom: Charming, conflicted, broken, insecure, troubled, complex and stubborn.Seven words to describe Genie Divine, Gigi aka Beauty: Determined, honest, loyal, good-natured, flirty and naive.Genie, told from dual POVs, offers a mixture of off-the-charts sex scenes, hilarious situations to coping with one’s past. But at times their stand-off felt long-winded. It ends wonderfully with an epilogue some ten years into the future.Excellent story-telling! Entertaining situations and bantering. Sizzling sex scenes. 4.5 "Beauty" Stars!“Feathers. Lies. Glitter. Secrets. Lust.”“He wants her theatre. She wants him dead.”Genie by Kitty French once again proves that this author can write the hell out of a sexy, filthy-mouthed, arrogant male who has a certain je ne sais quoi with the English language.Um....See what I mean?Er.... moving on....In this book we are transported to the shoddy theatre district in London where Theatre Divine has its home and it is run by Davey Divine, and entertaining drag queen, and his niece, Genie Divine. Genie is also the starlet of the theatre with her sultry and provocative burlesque show. Despite the fact that this theatre offers up quality performances, there is simply not enough money coming in to cover the much needed repairs and maintenance. Theatre Divine is in trouble. Enter Mr. Abel Kingdom, Australian gym mogul extraordinaire.“Bleak. Bitter. And very, very complicated.”“He had an undeniable presence, the kind of commanding aura that drew eyes and made people listen, the kind of instant charisma that performers would love to bottle and couldn’t fake no matter how hard they worked at it.”Abel Kingdom, a British ex-pat living in Australia and who has recently returned to London, was absolute sexy deliciousness that even my over-active imagination could never concoct. And, trust me, I have one heck of an imagination. Seriously, he made my ovaries quiver. So, kudos Ms. French. Anyways, for his own personal reasons Abel is wanting to purchase the rundown theatre and turn it into one of his profitable gyms. He has a past that links him to this area in London and Abel is determined to bulldoze his way and make his mark.“Then on behalf of women everywhere, let’s give him hell.”What ensues is a battle of the wills between our sexy entrepreneur and our seductive burlesque entertainer. And, what a fun and erotic battle it was! Genie finally discovers what her uncle is up to when it comes to the future of the theatre and when she does there is hell to raise. She is fervently opposed to selling her beloved theatre, the only home she has ever known, and she will fight tooth and nail for it. But, Abel will not go down without a fight either. With a sexual chemistry between the pair that is hot enough to blaze through any native forest, there is only so much antagonistic behavior they can engage in before matters turn into something erotic and sexually enticing.“I don’t like him, he doesn’t like me, and then every now and then we meet in the middle and rip each other’s clothes off.”Abel is one heck of an arrogant and belligerent butt-hole! Despite the sexiness his overall package offers, there were quite a few times where I wanted to punch him where the sun don’t shine. And, Genie. What can I say about Genie other than the fact that I whole-heartedly adored her! She is this lively, honest and confident woman, the perfect individual to take on the rude dip-stick. We are gradually enlightened about Abel’s tormented past and the reasons behind his loathing for all that Genie represents. Both Genie and Abel are intrinsically drawn to one another and they can’t seem to stay away from the other despite the fact that they are at odds. As much as Abel wants to resist the sultry red-head, he can’t seem to keep his wits about him whenever he is in her presence. All this push and pull certainly makes for one entertaining tale especially when you add in the explosive sex scenes. And, speaking of sizzling sex, this book has it in boat loads. Kitty French truly has a gift when it comes to intertwining a wonderfully heart-warming romance that left my heart in a big pile of goop with smoking hot erotic scenes that would have a nun squirming in her panties. I think I need to emphasize just how masterful this author’s erotic prose is.All in all, Genie by Kitty French was simply a fun delight to read. I loved every word and was unilaterally enthralled from beginning to end. I absolutely adore this author and her style. If you are a lover of sexy, erotically charged, contemporary romance, this book is a must read. Do it! I dare you! ;)*****An advance reading copy of Genie by Kitty French was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Feathers. Lies. Glitter. Secrets. Lust.Well, I’ve read a lot of erotic romance in a lot of sexy settings but I don’t think I’ve ever read one about a burlesque dancer and you have to wonder why more books aren’t given this sexy backdrop.  It’s all about the celebration of the natural beauty of a woman – mostly voluptuous women and it lends itself naturally to the erotica genre, I feel.Genie Divine is our burlesque dancing eponymous heroine – she and her drag star uncle run the Divine Theatre in London.  This venue is her heart and soul but it’s getting a little run down and tired and in need of repair and, strapped for cash, her uncle is on the verge of giving up and selling out to Australian Gym Mogul – Abel Kingdom.  Genie is vehemently opposed to her Uncle’s plans and she sets about using every weapon in her very sexy arsenal to scupper Abel’s takeover bid.I very much enjoyed this book – it gave me a real pride and prejudice vibe with both the main protagonists appearing to strongly dislike the other despite an almost combustible attraction to one another.  Abel Kingdom is the prejudice side of the story –he strongly disapproves of the whole burlesque scene and isn’t one for holding back his opinions.  He considers it pretty much akin to stripping and prostitution and often cuts Genie down with a vicious barb, badly hurting her feelings. She’s the poster girl for just about everything in life that makes his skin crawl.  Genie is deeply proud of what she does and makes up the pride side of the combo and uses her feminine wiles to reduce poor old Abel to a hot mess, much to his disgust. She’s turning his world upside down!So who is Abel Kingdom?Well, on first impressions I think you’d have to say that he’s an arrogant arse.  He appears to be highly judgmental of Genie’s chosen profession and really looks down on her.  Dig a little deeper and you will of course find deep-rooted reasons for his intense dislike for the whole scene and you will eventually learn to sympathise with him but it will take a while and I swear there were several occasions during the story when I wanted to place a well aimed stiletto heel right in his unmentionables!  He’s filthy-talking, arrogant, rude but he’s also sex on a stick and is finding it increasingly hard to resist Genie’s feminine wiles as she decides to make his life as difficult and uncomfortable as she possibly can. Then on behalf of women everywhere, let’s give him hell.Genie is a real sweetheart – open, generous, confident but she’s on the brink of losing everything and she’s highly attracted to the stud muffin who’s attempting to bring her world crashing down around her.  Time and again, Abel crushes her emotionally but she brushes herself off and vows to carry on.  There’s a lot to like and admire in Genie – she’s genuine, loyal and very determined.  She can tell that Abel disapproves vehemently of her chosen profession but she can also see just how deeply attracted he is to her, despite his denials.Abel is intrinsically drawn to Genie and, increasingly, finds it hard to reconcile her ripped jeans, skinny t-shirt, no make-up look with her on stage siren persona.  She’s like the girl next door and a sex goddess all wrapped in one gorgeous package and Abel struggles to resist her.  He wants only to be attracted to her day look but he can’t get her erotic, sexy performance out of his head despite his strong, chauvinistic disapproval  and this will lead to some highly-charged and very sexy scenes between the two of them, followed often by anger and hurt feelings.  Talk about your angry sex!Abel wasn’t an unethical man; it bothered him that he wanted to fuck her senseless and then fuck her over.I really enjoyed this – it’s light, funny and very, very sexy.  Kitty French’s style is engaging and compelling and the story held my attention from beginning to end even if I did want to kick Abel’s arrogant arse on more than one occasion.  It’s written as a standalone but I do think there’s scope for one of the secondary characters to get a story of their own so hopefully we haven’t seen the last of Abel and Genie. So if you enjoy an arrogant, filthy-talking but oh so sexy Australian and a feisty, kickass heroine giving as good as she gets and then some, I think Genie will work for you.  It’s great contemporary romance – a wonderful reprieve from reality and I think the central couple have some of the best names in the romance genre.  Genie Divine and Abel Kingdom – they don’t get much better than that!4 sequinned nipple tassel twirling starsARC kindly provided by Kitty French

It's LIVE *Amazon.com * Amazon.co.ukI simply love the writing style of Kitty French. Her erotic scenes are always a special treat flowing sensually throughout the prose. Genie is fanciful and different in terms of it's premise. A STANDALONE that offers a slow build and, if I'm honest, took me a little longer than usual to connect to the characters and the story but in the end, especially the last 30 ish%, Kitty French gave me the feels I needed. Genie is beautiful, erotic and romantic and has the most wonderfully stunning epilogue. Abel Kingdom is a self made man with a chain of gyms in his portfolio. Genie Divine is the finest Burlesque dancer in London. She lives and breaths Theatre Divine, a place she's lived with her uncle for her entire 28 years. It's their home and their love. She's confident, self assured, sexy, curvaceous and beautiful.Genie and Abel have opposing opinions about Burlesque. Genie considers it an art form and classy, whereas Able Kingdom's translation of a Burlesque dancer is STRIPPER and it's not something he can tolerate. Genie reflects the demons of his past. His plan is to rip the heart out of the theatre and turn it into a gym. What could go wrong? Genie has other ideas. Her determination sets in.Who will be victorious? The first half of the storyI struggled a little with my connection to the story during the first section. The characters seem to get up close, personal and frisky very quickly, maybe a little too quickly? I would have enjoyed a slower build and layering of emotion first, maybe a slightly different sequence of events. However, the layers came and I got my 'feels.' Speaking frankly there are a couple of moments that I cringed for Genie some of Abel's behaviour is irksome but it's always character driven and their actions, in the end, are what bought the story together and made me think and feel.Kitty French writes DIVINE EROTICATheir fiery attraction to each other is evident from the beginning. It's combustible, palpable and explosive. Kitty French shows wonderful sensual and erotic pictures in the prose demonstrating the heady feels of lustful coupling. The intense need of two people who are drawn together is a pleasure to read.I loved hearing his jealous thoughts and learning all about his past and the reasons for his behaviour. Genie gave me emotion, a fairy tale story and interesting characters. The epilogue made me overflow with lovely feelings and so, despite my initial frustrations, Genie, for me, was a highly satisfying romantic read with lashings of erotica. If you enjoy a sexy story with sensuality, passion and HOTNESS laced through then I recommend this story for your enjoyment.Arc copy received from the author in exchange for my honest review.

4 Burlesque Stars. Genie is a burlesque dancer, whose family theater is going to a rough phase. So when her uncle decides to sell it at her back, she isn’t happy with it. The man interested in buying it, is Abel Kingdom. A gym entrepreneur that left England a few years ago and trade it for Australia. He has his own agenda and his own secrets for buying the theater, secrets that prevent him to accept Genie in his life, even when things between them get to hot to be denied. So when he finally have a choice of a future, his own past may not let him move on. This was a hell of a steamy reading! I spent a good deal of this book frustrate with the MC’s (see below), but it was a quick, sexy and very enjoyable reading. If you’re in the mood for an explosive love story, with a burlesque background and the sweetest epilogue ever, this is a great choice. Rating:4 Stars. Characters Development:Despite being an asshole for a great part of the book, I liked Abel, because it was pretty clear he was fighting against his demons and his fears. And I liked how he redeemed himself, but I would love a little more groveling. Genie was pretty good and I loved how relentless she was until near the end, relentless is one thing, being a doormat is another, and towards the end that line became a little unclear. I liked them as a couple, they were freaking explosive. Steam:Hot! THREE ABEL KINGDOM STARS."Feathers. Lies. Glitter. Secrets. Lust."Kitty French will always have a place in my heart, her previous 'knight' series hosts one of my favourite ever heroes. So with that in mind I was hoping to fall helplessly in love with another one of Kitty's must read men. 'Genie' was a much anticipated 2015 release and so you can imagine my excitement when I was invited to read and review this sparkly, sexy looking novel. Overall 'Genie' is a likeable, sensual standalone with a delicious hero whose name is almost as unforgettable as his dirty mouth. What did I love?Firstly it has to be said that I loved the originality of this storyline. The burlesque theme really stood out to me and it's quite obvious that Kitty French has done her homework as the novel definitely had an authentic feel about it. The book also had plenty of flow and lots of themes to keep the story line interesting and engaging and as always I also loved how Kitty was not apologetic in her delivery of the hot action. As with most of the erotic romance novels that I read I was not at all unhappy to see that the author had gifted to the book world yet another sexy alpha for all of us alpha loving enthusiasts to enjoy. Abel Kingdom was not always the charmer throughout the book in fact I'd go as far to say that he had his fair share of moody broody moments and did I love that side of him? Oh yes you won't get any complaints from me about Mr Kingdom and whilst we are on the subject it has to be said that Kitty French always treats her readers to leading men with fabulously sexy names. The leading lady of this story was of course a sexy, curvaceous burlesque star and although I didn't feel 100% convinced about her love life decisions I did leave the story pleased as punch at the ending. Overall all that is left to say is that I loved that I was able to dive right into this authors story telling and enjoy a likeable novel that had a gorgeous ending. Bravo French, thanks for once again providing a wonderful escape from reality like only you can. Why not five?Whilst I really enjoyed jumping into the world of Kitty French imagination and the wonderful setting of this book, there was something missing for me to fall out and out in love with this novel. The beginning of the book was exciting and intriguing and I was definitely sold on the idea of a burlesque themed love story. However, I found the story line a little repetitive and I would have liked to have seen the heroine have a tad more backbone when it came to her willingness to give into the heroes charms. I also found the ending to be somewhat rushed I think for my reading tastes I would have liked to see the book be told over two books. I think overall I needed to understand more why the couple in question finally fell for each other. With that being said Kitty French will always be a must read author and I'll never miss any future releases. Final thoughts ...Anyone who has read a Kitty French novel will hopefully agree that her books are always sinfully sexy. If you are looking for a read with an action packed plot and loaded with heat then you won't go far wrong than grabbing a Kitty French novel. As for 'Genie' even though I wasn't 100% sold I don't regret for one minute spending my time with the scrumptious Hero, Mr Abel Kingdom. Fans of Kitty French will be happy to hear that once again this author delivered a story with her trademark mouth watering hero and a story that will leave you with a smile. Go one clicking fellow romance addicts ... Enjoy. *ARC generously recieved by the wonderful Kitty French in exchange for an honest review.*

3.5 StarsI don't like him, he doesn't like me, and then every now and then we meet in the middle and rip each other's clothes off.I adore Kitty French and there is no other trope I love more than the hate-to-love. So this book should have been a guaranteed winner for me, right? And right up until the halfway mark it really was. But I'll get to that in a bit...Abel is in London for a business transaction and nothing else. He's there to watch the infamous Burlesque performance of the debilitated club he plans on buying and reinventing as part of his chain of gyms. He's not a plan to pay fair and he's also a man who has a past that made sure that his hate for anything he views as a woman essentially whoring herself out as deplorable. He doesn't care if it's a stripper, and a gorgeous burlesque dancer is no better. But then the redhaired beauty on stage gyrating against a genie lamp manages to completely enrapture him...or at least one part of his anatomy. She looked like a girl who smoked cigarettes and bathed in champagne, who knew every dirty word in the dictionary and a few more besides.Genie Devine doesn't know that her uncle's club that she's fallen in love with over the years is in financial trouble. She's also less than pleased to find the moody man that wants to buy it out right from under them. She's determined to do everything to save the place, even if she has to use her feminine charms to do it...She wanted to make him come so hard his knees would buckle, yet at the same time she wanted to clamp her hands around his throat and stop his breath.Abel is definitely a man that makes his presence known and his opinion even more so.Now if you follow my reviews or know me that you know that I love me my assholes. And boy did Abel fit that to a T. I wasn't sure if I wanted to jock punch him or lick him most of the time. Luckily his internal struggle managed to keep him well balanced on that line between pure asshole and redeemingly brokenHe didn't want to want that woman, that dangerously powerful, knowing siren. He didn't want to want Genie Divine at all.I also love a hot angry sex scene, and of course Kitty French knows how to write one hell of a sex scene. You also begin to get small tidbits about what makes Abel tick and why he has so much hate towards the club and what he believes Genie does. His internal struggle was evidentShe stirred memories in him he'd rather keep buried, and she stirred emotions in him that left him feeling betrayed even by his own body. Right at that moment his head hated her, his cock loved her, and his heart was plain confused. But then he'd go and slap you over the head with his asshole tendencies and I'd find myself forgetting that I should feel bad for him. You're a woman, I'm a man. You want to tempt me into fucking you? Go ahead. Throw yourself at me. But know this. I'll fuck you and then I'll fuck you over.Unfortunately, this is exactly where the story began to lose me. This never ending back and forth between Genie and Abel began to quickly wear me down. Abel was just plain cruel to her at times, and I thought Genie was way too understanding and forgiving with him. Now don't get me wrong, she was NOT a doormat in any sense of the word. She was super kind, understanding and sweet. But then I began to think she was too good for Abel. I get that he has his demons, but I needed the man to grovel. G-R-O-V-E-L. And while he finally gets his shit together at the end it was too little too late for me. Maybe if he got his head out of his ass a little sooner and actually worked to get Genie to forgive his treatment of her throughout the entire book, I could have connected to their HEA more. As it was, it just seemed too sudden. While I didn't fully love this one, I wouldn't even think twice about picking up another book by this author. Whatever fault I may have found that caused me to not enjoy this one as much, it was still sexy and I loved the first part of the book and the epilogue was wonderful. 4-4.5 Stars I have to say that when I hear that Kitty French is releasing a book, I do the happy dance. She has a way with her storytelling that I know whatever the story, it will be wonderful. This story is about love, determination, forgiveness and being triumphant over your past. It's also sexy hot!!!Abel Kingdom is strong, sexy, complicated, driven and doesn't love. He is a man who gets what he wants and he wants Theatre Devine. He wants this property; he thinks it will ease a sadness/hatred he carries in his heart. Genie Devine is the sexiest burlesque dancer in London, in her family theatre. She is strong, sensual, playful, and beautiful and her home is the theatre and she will do whatever it takes not to lose her theatre to Abel.Abel and Genie have an instant attraction. But Abel hates that Genie is a burlesque dancer and cannot get over that fact. He can be mean and hateful to Genie in that regard but their chemistry and their times when the wall comes down is sexy and very sensual. Abel has a painful past and it affects him. Genie has flourished despite her past. Genie has never felt passion or fire before she met Abel and neither has Abel. You would think that these two could come together but Abel's agenda to getting the theatre doesn't involve falling for a burlesque dancer. Genie has 8 weeks to turn around business before Abel takes control of the theatre. Can she do the impossible while lusting for the man with the impenetrable soul? Can Abel really resist his desire and want for the woman of many facets? Their journey has intrigue, sadness, frustration, great banter, and extra hot steaminess.I will say that there was an added twist in the end that I really loved. I enjoyed this book but I really started to love in the second half of the book. This was a slow burn for me that became a raging fire. It had an epilogue that was downright perfect. I love when an author gives us a little more from down the road. It just gives a wonderful completion to a really wonderful story. A book for all to enjoy!!ARC given by author in exchange for an honest review

4 Sexy Burlesque stars! Live on AMZ! http://amzn.to/1zKgRWZAbel Kingdom hates strippers and prostitutes. With. A. Passion. A wealthy businessman from Australia, he's returned to his childhood home, London, to removesome of the negative memories of his childhood. He plans to buy The Devine Theatre and turn the hedonistic strip-fest called art into an exercise club. It may not take away his childhood scars but it'll help...Genie Devine's entire life lies within The Devine Theatre. Ever since her mother dropped her off at her uncle's theatre doorstep, this has been her home, her life, her calling. Being a Burlesque dancer offers her a way to express herself onstage completely uninhibited. She's aware of the Aussie businessman lurking around but is unaware of his secret dealings with her uncle in trying to buy out the struggling club. After a business meeting with Genie's uncle, Abel stops to watch a Burlesque show. He knows he hates the whole premise of sex on stage but a little champagne and entertainment will pass the night. Until a red-headed goddess appears onstage. Her corset strings gradually loosening...and his control crumbling. When Genie and Abel meet face to face, it's a seesaw between lust and hate...a challenge. Challenge to win...to beat the other guy. Genie knows what he's here to do and she will fight tooth and nail for her family's theatre. Abel, too, plans to fight dirty to purchase the crumbling theatre from her uncle just out of spite. The theatre is a beacon of everything dark and ugly from his childhood and he will destroy it. Genie was one giant push and pull. The chemistry between Genie and Abel was scorching, primal yet their extreme distaste for one another always seemed to come to a head after they succumbed to their cravings for each other. Let me say this- Abel is a giant a$$hole to Genie. I seriously would've kicked the man in the junk with some of the filth he spewed at her after using her. But they always seemed to find themselves attacking each other again...just for him to treat her like a filthy stripper-whore the minute the deed is done. But holy mother of elevator scenes! And, um...food scenes! Chocolate anyone? So, here's what made this fall a bit flat for me. I'm all for the angsty tug of war between love/lust and hate. But Abel always treated her horribly after anything sexual. Always a nasty dig at her but that in itself didn't bother me as much because there's a predictable reason for all of his 'emotional baggage.' What I didn't buy was her sudden professed love for him. I mean, WHY? Yeah, the sex is hot hot hot but he otherwise treats her like garbage. He wants to buy her theatre. He thinks she's a cheap stripper (which is farthest from the truth). He's disgusted after he succumbs to his lust..spews hate and walks out the door. How can you fall in love with a person like that? I didn't buy it and I found myself thinking back to what attributes does Abel have that promote her love? I guess I just didn't see her get much...anything...from him to cause her to fall for him. Regardless, I still really liked the book. I love a guy that's torn between revenge and desire...watching him gradually fall to his knees. Genie has a nice balance of plot including that angsty tug of war of emotions and a decent supply of steam. Overall, a sexy, enjoyable read. ARC received by author in exchange for an HONEST review. Title: GenieSeries: StandaloneAuthor: Kitty FrenchRelease date:24th February, 2015Rating: 3.5-4 "Divine" starsCliffhanger: No HEA:(view spoiler)[ Yes(hide spoiler)]Genie Divines's world revolves around her Uncle Davey and their beloved theatre, The Theatre Divine. Housed in London's East End, they regale patrons with their unique atmosphere and tantalising burlesque shows. It's a world Genie knows, loves and revels in. A world that's about to be rocked.Someone who does not share their whimsy is Abel Kingdom. In fact he seems to almost a vendetta against the establishment and all it represents. Taking advantage of the theatre's ageing and desperate need of repair, Abel sets out to buy it. But not without a fight from our feisty heroine. What ensues is a battle of wills, undeniable lust and fear of what comes with loosing. She had a dancer’s grace and a stripper’s curves. It was a shit hot combination to which, despite his best intentions, his body reacted every single time she was in the same room.My issue with Abe was his inability and length of time it took him to see the girl beneath the head dress and nipple tassels. In denying himself the admission that Genie and her profession were anything but upstanding he repeatedly behaved in a manner becoming of an a*se. I wasn't impressed by his manner on many occasions but a closer look into his past exposes the root of some of the drivel he sprouted. He was a man looking for love & acceptance and so blinded by his preconceptions, he couldn't see he had it in Genie. He’d come to London all those months ago expecting to teach it a lesson, and instead he’d been given a master class in life skills by Genie Divine.I had a fun time reading Genie, it had great ambiance, a villain turned hero and a wonderful stage presence.Copy provided by Kitty French in exchange for an honest review. He despises his weakness for her and Genie is so determined to prove to him that their chemistry is a once in a lifetime thing, that she ends up breaking him in the process._ _ _ _I really enjoyed it, the setting and the way Kitty described everything was perfect. The chemistry was scorching and the love/hate theme is always a favourite of mine so I was eating that right up. My only complaint was that I think I was expecting more from the end, something a bit more explosive after everything came to a head, but the epilogue was fantastic so I am happy with how everything turned out. This is a standalone novel, told in the third person POV.ARC gratefully received from the author in exchange for an honest review

Positively brilliant! She wanted to make him come so hard his knees would buckle, yet at the same time she wanted to clamp her hands around his throat and stop his breath. It was exhausting, and she was more than aware that the sexual tension was distracting her from the real and urgent business of raising enough money to keep hold of the theatre. An enemies to lovers modern romance with a delicious burlesque twist!I LOVED IT!The witty dialogue was the real star of this story - the back and forth between Genie Divine & Abel Kingdom (how fabulous are those names, by the way?) had me highlighting passages in this book like crazy! There was so much steamy sexual chemistry between the MCs - the whole 'I hate you but I also ache for you' attitude was incredibly entertaining. The reader is easily swept up in this relationship from the very beginning and it was a joy to watch everything play out.Large doses of humor to kept the story grounded and light-hearted.This book is downright charming.Genie Divine"I don't like him, he doesn't like me, and then every now and then we meet in the middle and rip each other's clothes off." Genie is a believable, relatable, strong, smart female lead and I fell in love with her character instantly. She's confidant and tenacious and stole my heart. She has spent her entire life in Theatre Divine, raised by her uncle, and eventually performing on stage. Unfortunately, times are tough for the aging theatre and Uncle Davey has decided to sell the property. Genie isn't willing to give up the family business just yet though, she plans to go toe-to-toe with the asshole who wants to take her home away. Her home and her livelihood - Genie performs a burlesque number on stage at Theatre Divine which captivates her audience night after night... Even those members of the audience who are determined to remain aloof...Abel KingdomAbel wasn't an unethical man; it bothered him that he wanted to fuck her senseless and then fuck her over. Business and pleasure, a bad mix as always. Oh Abel! What a fabulously filthy mouth on this guy... Imagining the delicious things whispered by this man all wrapped up in an Australian accent will have you melting...You really want to hate him for trying to take the Divine Theatre, but the reader is quickly informed that purchasing the property is more than just a business decision. It's personal. His plan to gut the old theatre and turn it into a gleaming gym - another one in a chain of successful ventures - seems like a done deal. He wasn't counting on Genie Devine, though.Even though he is incredibly attracted to the feisty red-head, Abel has a past which makes him deeply distrustful of any woman who combines sexuality and business. All he has to do is ignore the chemistry drawing him like a magnet to Genie, close the deal on the theatre, and close a dark chapter in his life forever. He's so confident that his deal to take over her theatre will go through, that he agrees to give her eight-weeks to raise enough money to save the place.Let the games begin...Theatre DivineBurlesque isn't cheap, Abel, and it isn't prostitution. It's an age-old form of entertainment, rich in comedy and music hall tradition. It's about striptease, illusion, art... a celebration of women. Yes, it's suggestive. Yes, it's sexy. But it's not obscene, or debasing to the performer or the watchers. The setting was practically a character in its own right. It is the only home that Genie has ever known - she's lived her entire life there, she works there, and she even lives in an apartment above the building. Genie has an awesome attitude about burlesque, and about female sexuality in general. She truly raises her performances into an art-form... Even as Abel tries to pretend it's something trashy. So there you have it - A brilliant, charming story with heat and romance...It's the smart and sassy Genie Divine vs. the sexy and wealthy Abel Kingdom...Theatre Divine hangs in the balance, and so does the possibility of love...***I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review***

3.75 STARS“Genie” was my first read from this author and hopefully it won’t be my last. While it wasn’t a 5 stars for me and I didn’t love it, I really enjoyed it. The premise was unique, something else entirely from what I read so far and I was attracted by it from the start. He wants her theatre. She wants him dead. Our heroine, Genie Divine is the most beautiful and talented Burlesque dancer of Theatre Divine, a London’s theatre run by her and her uncle Davey Divine. She loves this theatre with all her heart. It represent more than a simply job for her. It’s her home and it’s her life. Even Genie performs several times a week, the theatre has money problems. What she doesn’t know is her uncle wants to sell 'her home'. The one who wants to buy it is an Aussie wealthy businessman named Abel Kingdom. Abel has a chain of gyms, but he wants to buy the old building, to demolish it and to build another gym. After a business meeting with Davey, Abel stops to watch a show. Abel hates striptease and he also hates the burlesque, but when he sees the curvaceous redhead for the first time he’s more than mesmerized. And not only by her looks, but also by her moves. “She looked like a girl who smoked cigarettes and bathed in champagne, who knew every dirty word in the dictionary and a few more besides.”He doesn’t want to want her. He should hate her since she reminds him of someone from his past who hurt him more than once. He even hates himself, but he can’t deny the strong pull he feels towards her.Genie admits to herself Abel is a gorgeous man. No man made her feel like he does and no man touched her like this infuriating Aussie man. From the moment Genie finds out Abel is the one who wants to but the theatre from her uncle she declares him war. She will do anything to save her family’s theatre. Both of them fight dirty, they ‘hate’ each other, but let’s not forget there’s a fine line between love and hate. But Abel has a different opinion Burlesque and about Genie being a dancer, opinion who may complicate their situation.“How could the same woman have so many faces? And how could they all be beautiful in their own way?”I enjoyed this one, but there were a few times when I was so frustrated. This time the hero,Abel was the one who annoyed the crap out of me. Damn! The man was infuriating. He was such an asshole. Needless to say I wanted to punch him in the face numerous times. Yes, he was charming, but I can’t say I loved him or that I enjoyed his character too much. I felt for him because yes, he was broken and confused, but his words towards Genie were a little too much at times. Genie was a great heroine. She is sweet, smart, determined and confident. She’s is a fighter. But she also is naïve at times. Their chemistry was scorching, palpable and intense. What can I say?! I just loved their love-hate relationship. However I think their relationship progressed a little too fast. Also, Abel change was too abrupt for my liking. That being said, I really wished the book was longer. Overall, an enjoyable read!" ‘It was never you that needed to change, Beauty,’ he said, choked up. ‘It was always me.’ "

4 She Want's To Love You Stars * * * * @@@@@@@@ UPDATE @@@@@@@@@@@@@Kitty French will always have a very special place in my reading heart. She hit me hard with her character Lucien in Knight&Play. He was the first character I actually thought about as if he could be real...a man like that out in the world...someone I would give anything to know. He still pops into my head periodically... and I smile every time. But it wasn't just the man Ms. French created... it was the detailed story and romance of it all. This is a huge talent of hers and here in Genie...those talents are used with abundance. We are taken to a apart of London which houses the theater district from long ago... the part not so pristine...a little shoddy. The Divine Theater has been there for decades... and the owner and his niece have run it together. There is a little drag with the headline and draw being burlesque... and Genie Divine is the star.We meet Genie as she is performing and captivating against his will, Abel Kingdom, the Australian gym mogul. He is planning to purchase the rundown theater and turn it into one of his gyms. The uncle insisted he see the show...led him to a box seat and placed cheap champagne to impress. But nothing was going to trick Abel in this surroundings... he knew all the angles...he couldn't be manipulated or lulled by what was to happen on stage...he had made a vow to never have anything to do with strippers or showgirls...he had no need for them. As he sat there accessing the theater and what he could do with it when it was his...the lights dimmed and the emergence of Genie... on an Aladdin's Lamp came up from the stage. The vision was otherworldly.....he moved closer to the railing of the box...this woman glowed... her skin, and red hair falling down her back...it was something... a body wrapped in a corset and hiding behind a huge ostrich fan. She was taunting him....beckoning him without saying a word...he wanted her to turn and look at him...to turn around and let him see her face...and those curves...He couldn't breath... he couldn't turn away...he was controlled by her body, movements and then....Her Face....she turned to the audience and smiled...She teased and played, taking bits off here and there...asking if she should... then thinking and waiting... maybe she won't... this went on until he thought he might leap over the box and take her away from all the other eyes staring and wanting her... men, women... it didn't matter... he wanted her and needed to have her...She then looked as if she was to bare it all and the lights went out and she was gone. What... what... he gathered himself together and all the anger and bitterness came flooding back...so disappointed in himself...his lack of control during the show and lust for the girl. More determined then ever... he will buy this place and put his stamp on it.All of these business decisions are happening behind Genie's back. She has no idea the financial situation her uncle is in... and he is tired, too. He has his life partner and they may move to California. They have lived through much and it just may be time to move on and let the theater go... But Genie doesn't feel that way.Genie is thankful and grateful for her uncle. He has raised her from a pup...abandon, left to him by her mother, she has grown up in this theater doing everything from sweeping, to managing, marketing and performing. It is the performing where she blooms...she is this empowered creature... out there in her mask of makeup, glitter and feathers... dancing and feeling the music...and interacting with the audience... showing them the beauty which is woman...not disgracing it... playing and teasing, flirting and having alluring fun. It is a lost art form and it is worth saving.Genie confronts her uncle about the stranger in the box for she learned of him through her best friend. She was making the video of the performance as the Lamp was new. While shooting she panned to the box and saw this commanding, handsome man...She continued to shoot the performance but in the middle she returned to see the man...and what was captured was fascination, lust and want. What shocked Genie while viewing the video was her reaction to him was just as intense...she saw there was something there... more than just the animal...something lost and hurt. What happens next is the confrontation...with a twist...because when Genie comes into the office to find out what the hell is going on... she is herself... meaning clean fresh skin, cut off shorts, flip flops and t-shirt...unassuming with her hair pulled back in a sloppy ponytail. Light years away from the vision she is on stage. Abel takes her for the cleaner as the uncle rushes her out of the office. Genie figures out a way to walk Abel out of the theater without revealing who she is...Abel is forward... saying pick up lines for a tart...and she is unusually attracted to him despite his crass behavior...Because the chemicals are sparking and the draw is irresistible; so dinner plans happen. She will get answers as to why he is meeting with her uncle one way or another... because she thinks she has the upper hand...Neither one of them had the upper hand in this game...Both think they are playing each other...but the only one who knows how this is going to go down is Mother Nature...the attraction is fatal...they both cannot resist...and the battleground chosen....He will have her theater; she will fight to keep it.This story had a lot going for it... the beauty of Genie's beliefs in the good... to take what was given to you and make the most of it... to let go of the ugly and to love freely. It had some of the sexiest quotes coming from Abel's mouth... he would say things and do things which in an instant get you thinking... did he actually say that????There was a deeply sad part of the storyline...and when things finally come to a head...it is the understanding we have to love ourselves and no one can take away that ability... we have to be strong enough, brave enough to find the love within. What didn't work for me was Abel...I understood everything about him... I figured out his issues early on and his behavior with Genie was difficult for me.(view spoiler)[ People suffer from all sorts of emotional trauma yet at some point when interacting with another who clearly is not anyway similar to the past experience... then maybe it might help to step back and really listen to what the other person is conveying to you (hide spoiler)]He did have a broken heart and he had very sweet moments. The overall out come was good and resolved his other moments. He was redeemed. The secondary characters were delicious... other performers with their special ways...her best friend and more...I can see other books sprouting from this. Kitty French's words delight...entrance and give you moments... to think about and enjoy. She did with this book, too.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Before I read~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ah... Did someone say Kitty French.... ***3.5 Burlesque Stars***”I don’t like him, he doesn’t like me, and then every now and then we meet in the middle and rip each other’s clothes off.”Genie Divine is a modern-day burlesque dancer. As a very young child she was dropped off by her mother on the doorstep of her Uncle Davey’s theater. Genie grew up surrounded by glitter, sequins and music. The Divine Theater has been a part of her life for as far back as she can remember. She grew up there, works there and lives there. The theater is as much a part of Genie as a vital organ. It’s the only home she’s ever truly known, a place that surrounds her with vivid memories and is filled with wall to wall love. However, Genie learns that the theater isn’t doing so well. Her uncle has been trying to shield her from the ugly truth that he must sell her beloved theater, but there’s no hiding the truth any longer. Abel Kingdom is a self-made man. Growing up in the uglier parts of London’s nightlife, Abel was raised by a stripper mother who was more concerned about her next gentleman caller than her son’s well-being. As soon as Abel turned 18, he hightailed it out of England and made a life for himself in bright and sunny Australia. However, now he’s back to slay old demons and recapture that part of himself. He’s no longer a scared boy, yet a wealthy and confident man and he won’t allow his past to get in his way any longer. He’s decided to buy the Divine Theater and turn it into one of his chain of gyms. But, what he didn’t expect to find in this simple and straight forward business deal was Genie Divine. Genie Divine, luscious temptress. Genie Devine, angelic girl next door. Genie Devine, stubborn and resilient contender. Genie Divine...his biggest demon come alive. He wanted to touch her, to fuck her, to possess her every which way. To lay her on velvet and take her slowly until she moaned his name. To rut her naked up against a rough alley wall until the skin on her shoulder blades bled. Genie and Abel begin a battle of wits, tactics and desire. Genie will do whatever it takes to save her precious theater, while Abel will aim to defeat Genie at every turn. They have opposite goals when it comes to the theater, but they have a very singular desire and passion when it comes to each other. But things aren’t that easy. Though Abel is attracted and drawn to Genie, the ugly images from his childhood creep up convincing him that she is nothing more than a higher class stripper. A whore who takes her clothes off for money to entice men, to get what she wants, to manipulate. However, even with his past clouding his judgement, there are times when he sees her simply as a woman. The girl across the hall. Strong-willed, sweet, caring and stop-your-heart sexy. His attraction to her is a weakness that he fights, but he isn’t always successful in winning. Does he even want to fight anymore?Watching Genie rendered him powerless. Powerless to take his eyes off her. Powerless to stop his body reacting to hers. Powerless to stop the bewildering mix of lust and contempt low in his gut, whether contempt for her or for himself, he wasn’t sure. Genie is drawn to Abel. She tries to get him to see the difference between burlesque and stripping, to explain to him the beauty and art of her profession. She will not allow him to shame her, to make her feel less than the powerful and sexual woman that she is. But the electricity he makes her feel is sometimes too much. For every jolt of anger she gets, there’s any equal spark of fire. He infuriates her and ignites her in equal measure. But which side will win?She wanted to make him come so hard his knees would buckle, yet at the same time she wanted to clamp her hands around his throat and stop his breath. I absolutely adored Genie! She was the perfect combination of strength and vulnerability. Abel’s harsh insults could have easily knocked her on her ass, but she fought back. She kept her chin high and she didn’t allow him to deter her. She was strong-willed, stubborn and unrelenting in her quest to save the theater. Genie had a firm backbone and stood her ground against a flawed and relentless adversary who sometimes played dirty. He held her as a man holds a woman he adores, and he kissed her as a man kisses a woman he needs to fuck more than he needs to breathe. I had moments when I really felt for Abel. His meltdown even had me tearing up, but even then his hot and cold behavior just didn’t register authentic to me. The balance between his actions and his thoughts proved to be a disconnect for me. And therein lies my biggest disappointment with the book. I didn’t truly feel the connection between Abel and Genie. Were they hot together? Yes. Were their verbal sparring matches interesting? Yes. Was I invested enough in the push/pull of their relationship? Not really. All of the components of a fantastic enemies to lovers story were there, but somehow it just didn’t click with me...nothing really took off and leapt off the page. When all the conflict came to a head and all the emotions broke through the surface, I was expecting some epic scenes ahead. However, everything got tied up a little too quickly and a little too nicely for my liking. I wanted more of a believable epiphany, more of an epic grovel, a grand gesture...something. Instead I was left feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied. Even though the story was a bit disappointing, it was still an enjoyable read. The setting and backdrop was unique with an old Hollywood feel. And once again, Kitty French has proved that she can write one hell of a steamy sex scene and provide her readers with an insatiable dirty talker. ***Complimentary ARC generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review***

The hated poured out of me toward Abel which you can witness in my status updates.  Especially him being an ass ;-)Now, to the story – yes, the plot did redeem itself at the end and I was able to melt the ice around my heart for Abel.  I found Genie a strong, independent woman, whose loyalty shone through her personality.I enjoyed how Ms French developed these characters – yes, I am giving her kudos even for Abel.  As my mother once told me, ‘If you can seriously hate a character and have it affect you that dramatically, that shows the writer is doing their job.’ And that, my dear, Ms. French, is 100% true when it comes to you. You made these characters’ personalities so transparent and believable that at times, I found myself believing they were real.Re-Cap Genie is a burlesque performer….Abel HATES strippers.Genie believes what she does is a form of art….Abel believes she is a whore. But…they can’t help the desire and lust they feel for each other.Abel wants to buy the run down theater….Genie wants to save it.What happens when these two collide? Reason for Reading – Author requestStory Rating – 4.5 out of 5 StarsSteam Rating – 4.5 out of 5 StarsAngst Rating – 4 out of 5 StarsWriting Rating – 4 out of 5 StarsContent Flow Rating – 4 out of 5 StarsTold In – Dual POVHeroine/Personality – Genie is headstrong, loyal, independent, strong moralsHeroine/Personality – Abel is an ignorant ass (nuff said)HEA (Spoiler) – (view spoiler)[Yes (hide spoiler)]Would Read More from Author? 4 - Business and pleasure, a bad mix as always. Stars!Genie is not my first ride on the technicolor express train that is the marvel we also call the imagination of Kitty French. This lady does romance, just not a we know it. Unusual locations, intriguing characters, interesting pasts, unexpected futures. You get it all in one of her books and more.Burlesque is not something Abel Kingdom has much interest in or any tolerance for, ask him why, and he will likely tell you it's just stripping/prostitution by any other name. His reasonings in his head are sound, and as the book progresses you are given deeper explanations as to why he behaves the way he does from the offset."I'll fuck you, then I'll fuck you over."Genie Divine the fiercely independent, utterly confident and unabashedly sexy lead burlesque dancer at the Theater Divine is one hundred percent in disagreement with Abel's assumptions; about almost everything as it happens, and in an effort to save the theater she loves so much from being sold to Abel, endeavors to raise the money she needs to save it. Their connection is made whilst she's on the stage, strengthened when she is off it, but is it strong enough to survive everything that as a pair they have going against them.I really liked this story, Kitty really does give you a no holds barred romance story with a difference, I loved Genie and everything she encompassed with her choice of profession, her strong, confident and unashamedly sexy demeanor, her defiance in the face of certainty and her spirit in fighting until all of options were exhausted. He'd met his match.I struggled a little with Abel, all the attributes where there, dominant with a little assholiness, direct with a dash of cheeky charm, and full of imagination verbally and in his actions when it came to the sexy times. It was his treatment of Genie, the words he used, and the constant knocks against her that were the dampeners for me. As the story develops you see more of the man, his background and the past he is so desperate to wipe out, but it didn't quite give me enough empathy for him to justify the sometimes hurtful words he threw her way."I'm not anti-love... I'm just anti-loving you."That said, this little niggle was such a small part of the overall sparkly fabric of the book, it was less of an issue, and more of an observation for me. I loved the whole set-up, the diverse and colorful characters and the originality of the situations the story produced. There are laughs, a few tears, lots of sparkle and glitter, and an epilogue full of potential and promise.I hope we get to visit the Theater Divine again at some point in the future!ARC generously provided by the author, it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review.

Genie has two things that she can count on. Her uncle and the Divine Theatre. So when Abel Kingdom shows up wanting nothing more than to buy it and turn it into a gym, she isn’t about to give up that easily. But beyond the fight to keep the one place that has always been her home – Genie has to fight the insane sexual attraction she feels for the man that can’t seem to see past what she does for a living.I loved the dynamic between these two characters! The hatred nearly matched the crazy attraction, but in the end these two just couldn’t keep their hands off of each other.I feel like I waited forever for this release and it seems like so long ago that I was lost in the pages of her prior release. But it only took a minute to fall back in love with her writing and ability to tell a story. Although very sexually charged, this wasn’t just about crazy sex. There was a great story that shined the entire time. I loved watching Abel struggle with not only his desire, but with his past. He was the kind of broken Hero that I can’t help but fall in love with. Both characters held great strengths were so easy to like and connect with. I loved that I didn’t have to pick a side – I loved them both equally.Kitty’s writing was on point and for those that enjoyed Knight & Day, I think you’ll easily love this new novel.

Genie: Approved to be recommended ♪Hit it up! Hit it up! Show me how you burlesque! ♪Oh wow guys. No wonder a lot of people loved this book. I few weeks ago I saw a friend of mine gave this book a wonderful spoiler free review and I was hooked! The story is unique, the blurb is captivating and the cover is absolutely eye-catching. What more can you ask for?The story revolves around Genie and Abel and their steamy sexy "war" as to who will keep the Divine Theater.(Let's talk about the hero first) Abel Kingdom is the sexy I-wanna-lick-you-up-and-down Aussie gym mogul who wants to buy The Divine Theater. Of course, because this is an erotic contemporary romance, he has all the right muscles and all the right level of hotness. What makes this certain hero lovable is that he can make you go hot and cold and yet still be quivering in the right places of your body.Genie Divine: We all have read about a hundred types of heroine who works as a nurse or a teacher or a waitress. To be totally honest, that's predictable especially when your genre is contemporary romance. But this book gives you the bomb, guys. The heroine is ashowgirland she's proud of it! I watched Christina Aguillera's Burlesque years ago and I swooned when I saw the beauty of strip tease. (I've never been to a strip bar because they're not usually my cup of tea.)Girl's striping in a strip bar is not my thing but Burlesque is a different matter. It's true that people usually find that kind of profession seedy or dirty but the original burlesque way back in the early twentieth century is an art. Just like the reputations of the Geisha, the true meaning of Burlesque was changed as the time goes by andI have to stop this because it's getting boring. Anyway,I love Genie's character. If you've read the book, you'll know why she's a different kind of heroine from all other heroines out there. The story is original. The scenes are seductive. The was between the H/H is hilarious. And the heroine didn't do anything idiotic. (Thank God.)As I've said, WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?

Review: Surj 4.5 stars..Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheHopelessR...TSU: https://www.tsu.co/FiftyShadesofGreyBlog: http://thehopelessromanticsbookblog.b...Kitty French, it's been a while honey but the wait was absolutely worth it. The minute "Genie" landed on my kindle I couldn't wait to get stuck in because I knew this was going to be a fantastic read. Well, this author hasn't let me down so far and if the teasers were anything to go by, I was in for one hell of a bumpy ride... and I wasn't wrong... but I loved every single bit of the roller coaster I was taken on.I don’t like him, he doesn’t like me, and then every now and then we meet in the middle and rip each other’s clothes off. It was difficult not to get absorbed into Abel and Genie's story. The setting was amazing. An old London theatre, full of character and charm where the main attraction was a burlesque show that had the crowds begging for more. I mean who doesn't love burlesque... the extravagant costumes, the lavish yet risqué performances, the glamour, mischief and of course the sauciness all had me glued to the pages. But that wasn't all that held my attention... oh no because the minute I met the two main characters (Abel and Genie), this book had me hook, line and sinker. Right from the get go, there was a palpable sexual chemistry between the pair... as in off the charts but unfortunately, it wasn't the kind that was going to lead to hearts and flowers. See, there was a theatre at stake and both had laid claim to it. Genie wanted to keep the theatre as it had been in her family for years. I got it... I understood. Abel on the other hand wanted to remove any trace of the theatre ever having existed and turn it into a clean living gym... WHAT???? It seemed so wrong and so I already knew which side of the fence I'd be sitting on. You're a woman, I'm a man. You want to tempt me into fucking you? Go ahead. Throw yourself at me. But know this. I'll fuck you and then I'll fuck you over.Genie's character was brilliant. she was a confident, strong red head who stuck to her guns no matter what. I loved how passionate she was about burlesque and I admired her persistency in trying to get Abel to see that what she did wasn't dirty. It wasn't seedy and it definitely wasn't stripping... not in the conventional sense of the word anyway. What she did was an art form and one she was proud of. "Burlesque isn't cheap, Abel, and it isn't prostitution. It's an age-old form of entertainment, rich in comedy and music hall tradition. It's about striptease, illusion, art... a celebration of women. Yes, it's suggestive. Yes, it's sexy. But it's not obscene, or debasing to the performer or the watchers." Abel on the other hand was an arrogant, pig headed arse who riled me no end. He didn't try to understand what Genie did. In fact he was so hell bent on destroying the theatre and everything he thought it stood for that nothing and no one was going to change his mind. Grrrr!!! However Kitty French did fab job with his character because as much as I wanted to kick him in the nuts on more than one occasion, there was just something about him that piqued my interest. There was more to Abel Kingdom than I initially thought. This was a man with secrets and watching his back story unravel was definitely an eye opener. It made me see him in a whole new light and as much as he was initially an anti hero, I couldn't hate him if I tried. Despite the very obvious sexual attraction, Abel and Genie were at it like cat and dog. They fought fire with fire, playing dirty, using every trick in the book to ensure victory. Their verbal sparring was second to none although Abel's comments (more often than not) cut deep, inflicting hurt and pain at every turn. In those moments my heart went out to Genie because she didn't deserve his cruel words. However, when their resolve waned, when they gave in to their sexual desires, wow did it get me a little hot under the collar. Kitty French has always been able to write a good sex scene, and this was no exception. The sexual tension that bubbled under the surface for the most part of this book had me itching at the bits for them to get it on... again... and again... and again. And each time they did, I hoped that maybe... just maybe it would lead to something more... yeah yeah I'm a hopeless romantic, what can I say. Unfortunately, all it lead to was another round in the metaphorical boxing ring!!! "Say something like that to me in public again and it won’t be my tongue in your mouth. It’ll be my cock."Kitty French has given us a fantastic, unique and very unpredictable read in "Genie" and right up until the end, I could say who would get the theatre. It was a battle of wills with twists and turns thrown in that left me second guessing at every turn. If you love Kitty French's work, you will 100% love this book. I couldn't recommend it enough. I rated "Genie" ❤️❤️❤️❤️.5

“You’re so incredibly lovely, Genie…So fucking incredibly lovely.”The evocativeness of Kitty French’s writing reeled us into Genie’s story from the onset. There’s no doubt about it, Kitty French is a spectacular writer. Her words sweep across the page in a vividness that had us living and breathing the theatrics, seduction and beauty of Genie’s Burlesque world. The sensuality of the story, the sexual chemistry between this passionate couple didn’t just sizzle….it teased and taunted before erupting like a volcano taking us right along with it. Wow! This lady sure does know how to titillate and deliver on her tease!‘Dark. Lost. Possessive. Filthy’Genie Devine was born to entertain. She oozes sensuality with a grace and innocence that screamed for Abel Kingdom’s attention! Despite Abel’s best intentions, he’s unable to ignore the effect Genie’s performance has on him. Her provocativeness aroused and awakened something in Abel he was loathed to acknowledge though he couldn’t deny the feelings of pure animalistic desire she evoked in him. This woman beguiled him. Genie was a true chameleon – innocent and demure one minute, sensual and seductive the next and didn’t she send Abel into a right spin!‘Right at that moment his head hated her, his cock loved her, and his heart was plain confused.’Abel Kingdom, a successful British ex pat residing in Australia runs a chain of Gyms back home and returns to London with the intention of acquiring the theatre owned by Genie and her Uncle. This isn’t just any old theatre though to Genie and her Uncle, it’s their breath and their soul. For Genie it’s where she comes alive and the thought of losing it would be like losing a part of herself.Abel is hell bent on acquiring it for his business purposes, Genie is hell bent on keeping it as part of her heritage and so the game of cat and mouse, push and pull begins with a vengeance. The antagonism and resulting sexual chemistry between the pair was palpable! The attraction so clearly evident, we felt we needed a cigarette and a lie down once they succumbed to the inevitable passion which was extremely erotic!Genie fell hard for Abel and we could sense that Abel fell hard for Genie. There was most definitely a sexual compatibility between the pair, but the emotional pull between them could sometimes get lost in the outward display of friction between the pair. Sometimes this element of the story could drag a little.Abel could sometimes be quite cutting and cruel in his open assessment of Genie and her lifestyle, he was extremely judgemental and as his past was alluded to throughout we knew answers would come as to why he treated Genie the way he did. However; we felt that the emphasis wasn’t quite balanced enough.“So what exactly are you saying here, Abel? I’m your upstairs angel, downstairs whore?”Lucky for Abel, Genie sought to see inside the man to discover what lay underneath. There were times we doubted Abel’s feelings for Genie and Abel sorely underestimated the depth of the woman that lay beneath the glitz and glamour of her façade.‘Abel could barely breathe. She moved with the grace of a ballet dancer, and she had the lush curves of a vintage Hollywood starlet.’Genie was a fabulous read. We enjoyed it immensely. Kitty French took us into Genie’s world in a deliciously entertaining way. Her words kept us riveted and Genie held us captive. This is the perfect escape read. You know, the one you can just lose yourself in and forget about life for a while. Genie certainly did that! 3.5 StarsI hate love stories like this!!I had big expectations for this book but it really disappointed me. It began well, but soon the story took a direction I didn't like. The writing was really good though, that's why the 3.5 rating. Probably I will read from this writer again. Because even though I didn't love it, it kept my interest high till the end. This is a book about one of those loves where you give all of yourself, your heart, even your dignity to the other person and he repeatedly keeps breaking you, your heart, all your securities without remorse! This is about those kind of sick loves that consume you and you get in return only hurt and abuse!Albel the hero is a real asshole!! I hated him so much. I get that he had a rough start of life, but having had issues in your childhood don't give you the right to be mean, hateful and hurt other people, especially people who show you love. He's a verbal abuser. Period!Genie was a nice positive charmful girl. The fact that she wanted to fight till the end to keep her theatre was something I appreciated. And she began very well. BUT soon she lost all her self esteem and was repeatedly throwing herself to Albel and became so desperate to have his affection, love and approval that was sickening. Accepting him hurting her everytime, calling her names. She lost all my esteem. I felt pity for her. I hate loves that mix so bad with your head that you keep saying yourself this is love even it hurts and humiliates you.So the sudden change of him by the end felt fake and didn't do it for me.

A beautiful story involving the superb Genie Devine (such a stage name I know...but it was actually her real name :P)...a beautiful burlesque dancer that takes the act of seduction and makes it art......and a hot Australian gym mogul named Abel that has one rule: He doesn't fuck prostitutes or stripers. But things get pretty complicated when Abel and Genie are drawn to each other but he discovers she is actually the burlesque dancer he lusted over...and in his eyes that's the same thing as a striper. And to complicate things more he wants to buy her family's theater and turn it into a gym and she does everything in her power to stop him.Lets just say things get pretty interesting :P

28-year-old Genie has been left on her uncle's doorsteps by her mother when she was just a little baby. Her uncle took her in. Into his family's theatre. The Divine Theatre. And this theatre is now Genie's whole life. She's a burlesque dancer in the show. Her uncle's doing a drag-queen-part. But he wants to retire. To California with his boyfriend. And he doesn't have the money to pay for the new roof and lots of other repairs...so he decides to sell out to Abel Kingdom - a gym chain guy from Australia. But Genie still has eight weeks to save her beloved theatre. 8 weeks to get enough money to stop this horrible australian guy from buying her home. But of course this horrible australian guy is not so horrible. At least he isn't horrible to look at. He's drop-dead-gorgeous.And they are both soooo attracted to each other. But on his side that was only until he knew what she did for a living. He despises strippers and prostitutes. She's not a stripper. She's a professional dancer, by choice. But Abel has lots of problems left over from his childhood in London. Where his mom was a stripper. He saw and heard things, no little boy should see or hear. That's why he can't understand why he's so drawn to this girl...this beautiful stripping girl....Lots of problems to overcome until Genie & Abel can even think about having a Happy Ever After....WHAT WiLL HAPPEN WiTH GENiE & ABEL???WiLL BUSiNESS & ABEL'S PAST DESTROY ANY CHANCE AT A FUTURE FOR THEM???WiLL THERE BE A HORRiBLE CLiFFHANGER????Nope - I'm not telling you ☺Ok- I might tell you that there is NO Cliffhanger - we have a nice epilogue - BUT there is the possibility of a book for another character ;)______________________________I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK!A reallllly hot Aussie??? Let's just pretend he looks like Alex O'Loughlin .... #InstantFangirlI had no idea what to expect when I started reading .... just the basics of burlesque dancing and a theatre etc.I really enjoyed reading it.It was reallllly sexy - even though there's no 'real' sex for a long while, but Kitty creates amazingly sexy scenes without actual sex ☺I loved how it's not all happy happy lovey dovey stuff right from the beginning. Like in other books - they meet - fall in love - get together - some misunderstanding comes in their way - break-up - get back together in the end.... it's a bit different here ☺ Yes, they're incredibly attracted to each other, but Abel stands in the way of Genie's future. And Abel just can't get over the fact that Genie takes off her clothes for money. It's so adorable and funny to watch them trying to not give in to temptation - and mostly failing miserably ☺I also really enjoyed the background of the whole story - the theatre - the burlesque dancing. I don't think I ever read a book about that before. I really enjoyed it. The whole atmosphere in the theatre, the desperation of Genie trying to save the family business for herself and for everybody who's working there. And Abel trying to let go of the dark past by buying this theatre...I loved the end especially - the last 25% were really interesting and event-ful ☺GENIE was an amazingly sexy & funny & moving Romance!

3.5 glitter gets everywhere stars. This one had great love-hate fuelled tension, mucho smut and it was set in an old London theatre that I can see quite vividly in my mind now so I should've been blown away by this, but I'm afraid it wasn't quite there for me. I loved the set up and the tension at the beginning, but the repetition of them jumping one another's bones then saying something to push the other away began to wear me down. I found it hard to fall for Abel when he was so fickle and, well, mean. That said, I enjoyed the epilogue, but I'd love to have read more scenes where they were friendlier to each other to convince me that they had truly got it. Not my favourite from this author, but still a decent read.

3.75 stars Genie, after being dumped on the steps of her uncles Burlesque theatre, has spent her life surrounded by the glitz and glamour of Burlesque dancing. The Theatre has a special place in her heart, so when her uncle starts acting strange she's determined to find out what's going on. Abel, is back in London, a place he never expected to return to after running from a broken past. Owning a chain of Gym's, the theatre is the perfect place for his next project, if only he can convince the stunning but determined Genie to sell the place she loves the most. This made such a nice change, being set in burlesque club. I loved how fiesty Genie was and how Alpha and brooding Abel was. Genie is everything Abel hates but he can't stop the longing he has to posses her. Abel is the one destroying her future so why, every time she sets eyes on him does she want to rip his clothes off. The love/hate balance is this is really good and keeps you longing for more. I've loved all Kitty's work so far and this was no exception, she has a fantastic flair for Sex scenes that are guaranteed to get you a little hot under the collar. The only reason this is marked down, is that I just wanted a little bit more, maybe it's just me being a bit greedy. But all in all a very enjoyable read.ARC gratefully received from the author in exchange for an honest review

Genie/Gigi/G Devine. A burlesque dancer. Beautiful, seductive, and sexy. Someone with a big heart.Abel Kingdom. Grade A bastard. Abel fucking Kingdom. A broken man. And downright hot.It start off with the dance. Anticipation builds as the teasing is made slow and hot and makes you want for more. Genie’s performance that night was the best ever compared to her other performances, but I was quite disappointed with it though. The taking it too slow, slow, slow was okay but I get since she’s into burlesque, I have expected more and have set a high standard.Their banter, the hot tension, and their meetings are steamy scenes. My heart broke for Abel, eventually. He’s been broken and he hides his vulnerability by being a bastard. Being as a child to go through that? That was just horrible. And Genie, never giving up on him, being brave of her feelings and strong for Abel, it complements the both of them. The connection and intensity of two of them is there from the start. All in all, it has been a fun and good read.P.S. Amanda, thank you girlfriend for reading it along with me!
