Meet Clara Andrews does just that. This is the introductory novella that acquaints the reader with Clara and her friends, her job as an assistant fashion designer, her love for shoes, alcohol and carbohydrates, and her romantic escapades.Whilst I enjoyed the actual writing of this, I found the story infuriating and the characters vapid and shallow. This is a passive and predictable read, but what really distanced me from the story line was the snobbish behavior portrayed by the characters and their inability to care for anything other than their own trivial concerns. We see little of Clara's job and her passion for it and instead this is primarily set in an endless sea of restaurants and bars and focuses on Clara's endless wish for alcohol and dessert whilst there. There is nothing wrong with calorie counting, but I don't wish to read 100 odd pages of someone doing so!Some of the characters' comments concerning other professions they deemed as lowly were totally unacceptable but my biggest gripe with this book was that the one LGBTQIA character was termed a "butch lesbian", demeaned and displayed in a totally stereotypical way. Unacceptable! The romantic relationships were sweet, if predictable, but again the focus of wealth and good looks rather than personality and actual chemistry incensed me and distanced me from feeling any empathy with the characters. This is a good beach read but, for me, the focal points were directed too much on appearance and shallow behavior.

Release Date:November 8, 2014 Genre:Chick LitI thought this book was a cute but predictable read. Having never read a book by Lacey London before I wanted to give it a try because I was in the mood for a chick lit read and I saw that it was free within kindle unlimited. In all honesty, I did enjoy it quite a bit despite the fact that everything is very quick and too the point. There may not have been a lot of growth in the story or layers to the characters, but it was a fun read and I will be grabbing the next book in the series. I do hope to see a bit more growth in the characters though because I fear that if I don't that I won't continue the series.ABOUT THE BOOK As the title states, readers will meet Clara Andrews in this novel. You will get to know her (although admittedly, not on a deep level) and learn a lot about her job and dating habits. Clara is a designer- or, becoming one, thanks to her best friend Marc who owns a design company. But she isn't on her own yet and needs to work with the new designer that is coming in from America. Unbeknownst to Clara, this designer who flies in to work for their company is no other than a man that she eyed at the bar... When she had vomit in her hair and pepto-bism0l on her dress. From there a relationship begins to blossom between both Clara and Oliver. Of course, there is another man who she happens to be dating as well, but she needs to let him down gently (and in person) because her feelings for Oliver had grown exponentially in the last few weeks. But problems arise when these two meet in person, and her whole world is tilting on its axis.. What will happen with Clara and Oliver? If you want to know, give this book a try!MY OVERALL THOUGHTS OF THIS BOOK If you're looking for a book with incredible character depth and development you won't find it in this book. But, if you want light and fun reading with the chance to follow the characters throughout a big series then I recommend this book to you. I personally DID like it, I just didn't love it. I am hoping this changes as the series progresses. We shall see!! Not sure where I can shelve this? Chick lit, not really? Romance, maybe? But, even that category doesn't quite work here. This was definitely not my cuppa. Heroine spent the entire book, eating, drinking and dating two men. That's about it. And, I should care, why?

When I first saw on Twitter that Lacey London was giving away the first two books in the Clara Andrews series for free on Amazon, I could not resist. I love books and free books are just a dream. Now I am hooked and will most definitely be buying the rest of the books in the series. Lacey London's writing style is very relaxed, easy to read and a complete joy. The book is very well written, realistic and at times hilarious!Everyone knows a Clara, or can relate to her. Clara is a typical female, one who keeps getting herself into awkward situations. In fact, all the characters are relatable. The characters in this book are people you will know if your own personal life. This, along with Clara's wonderful point of view, made the book so much more life like for me. The chapters were very short, which is something I enjoy because you can always fit in another chapter before you put the book down. Or at least that's the plan. In reality I read it in one sitting, unable to put it down! Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It is an easy going yet fun book to read and I've given it a very well deserved 5 star rating. Clara Andrews is a junior designer for shoes at "Suave", a shoe producer. Two men and a best friend are part of the story. The story is described well in the book description, therefore it is just my personal opinion following. The book was just not my style. The main setting are the work of the protagonist and her flat. The protagonist is often drunk or suffers of a hangover. Many things happen because the character is drunk or suffers a hangover. I do not expect much profundity of this kind of literature, but for me it is annoying reading all the time about how many drinks she gets and how she suffers of the hangover. For me it sounds as well unrealistic, that an employee will be promoted, when she all the times take sick days (due to hangover).

It is no mistake when you find a really good book. We are pulled towards it for so many reasons, my reason for choosing this book was because of the author Lacey London, and I am so glad I did. So there I was with MEET CLARA ANDREWS and it's beautiful cover, under my favourite blanket with a cup of my favourite tea, laughing my a** off at the very first paragraph. It is a short book, so I read it in one sitting, but honestly it was so engaging that I could not put it down. Lacey London created a brilliant character, her writing is flawless, fun and humorous, just a wonderful read.Anyone that enjoys a good chick-lit, a funny page turner, get up and get this book it makes for a fun afternoon!

Not really for me I'm afraid. I didn't hate it, it was mildly amusing and I like the fact that it was a clean romance. However, both story and characters felt shallow and contrived and every other sentence was to tell us what they were eating or drinking.

I sat down this evening and read this book. While it is a fun, cute(?) book it really isnt my typical read. But I can see where plenty of people would really enjoy it and probably the rest of the series.

nothing extraordinary but very relatable. I love how Clara's character was portrayed and shows that every woman has their own "Clara" deep down. And i actually loved how it made me feel while reading it. Its like i know the characters personally! Enjoyed it so much ❤️

Meet Clara Andrews is the first installment in the Clara Series by author Lacey London. I must admit that I had a fun time delving into this easy, light read, which is reminiscent of Bridget Jones and other chick lit novels. Clara has a likeable personality and she’s surrounded by good friends, which makes for an efficient cast.Granted it contains your average amount of clichés (like the wealthy suitor) — and I also thought that Clara spent a crazy amount of time eating and drinking throughout the plot — but in the end, you get what you hope for, a heartwarming love story. Pretty much a guilty pleasure. Even though it’s not groundbreaking in the romance genre, it’s lovely and entertaining.I think I’ll read the second book to see whether it gains in depth!

After finishing an intensive psychological thriller I felt like I needed a good comedy chicklit for my next read. I am so glad I stumbled across this book. It was a brilliant read that reminded me of a Bridget Jones / Shopaholic / Coco Pinchard style of book.Every female should be able to relate to the trials of relationships, work and best friends drama that goes on in the story and it doesn't really matter how old you are.I enjoyed it so much that I had to download and start reading book 2 in the series straight away.I gave it 4 stars only because book 2 was even better (if that's at all possible).

Fairy tale in real lifeThis is a basic boy meets girl kind of story. However girl and boy are very funny involved in fashion, boy has lots of money and confidence. Did I say girl is hilarious. Yes it's laid out like a fairy tale and just when you think there's going to be some type of scandal there isn't. I liked it because its not full of all the drama that other romantic books have. And did I mention it is laugh out loud funny.

Lightning fast read! I can't believe I read it this fast, and that was with netflix binge as well as other household/motherhood duties. That being said it was a fun, albeit not nearly as funny as promised, read. I liked that the drama was not necessarily her fault - more of a misunderstanding on the romantic interest's part. And she seemed to be at least proud of who she was. I hate when they do these rom-coms and make the MC hate herself.

Loved this book! This was the best romantic comedy I've ever read! The main reason is because it was spot on as far as describing dating, relationships and love ~ including describing just how upset we get over misunderstandings when we're trying to do the right thing. This is Book 1 in the series and I can't wait to begin reading Book 2!😺

A lighthearted gun story with realistic ips & downs, this book kept me reading page after page I liked the characters and situations and reading how Clara squirmed herself thru them. I could identify with many from my younger years & laugh!

There is no interesting twist or plot in this book. Somehow two super good guys loves the same woman. But there is nowhere from the book that I can tell why the heroine is so charming. Not worthy the time.

Fun read. Love the way Lacey writes!A fellow reader had posted on Twitter how good this book was and I can say that I’m not surprised by this either. I did enjoy it.  I am an American, it was interesting to see how the story is told from a millennial British woman point of view and how life on the other side of the pond is portrayed. For some reason, I gravitate towards British novels with a great deal of my personal reads. In this book, we meet a 27 year old Clara Andrew (we are the same age! yay!), recovering with a massive hangover from the night before.  She is just trying to get through her day hungover interacting with her boss and best friend, but once she goes out to lunch with said best friend, she just can’t do make it through the day anymore. Stumbling to the bar bathroom, acting like a complete mess, and getting Pepto Bismol on her shirt definitely makes an impression on the guy she bumped into at lunchtime. Next work day, she is back to her normal self and we meet the newest employee at her company and coincidentally is the same guy she bumped into at the bar, the Mr. Oliver Morgan. We definitely see the sexual tension and the flirty between the two during their working hours. But we also see Clara and how she conducts her daily, single life. Don’t get me wrong, this book is well written and I enjoyed Clara’s point of view. But honestly, I would have loved to see Oliver’s character develop a little bit more. He seems like a total jerk for a while and then once they connect, he’s not so bad. There is some drama with the couple (typical!) and the eminent break-up over something so meaningless. We see Clara go through her heartache and there is the support from her friends. At this point, you are almost at the end of the book. I felt like the ending of the book was a little abrupt. I’m not completely ruining the book for anyone but then the end is there and I’m thinking to myself, “huh?” Sorry, Lacey, I cannot wait to read the second one, but, the ending didn’t feel very developed. I just hope Oliver’s character can be more relatable and not so douche-y in the future books.

Meet Clara Andrews is the first book in a series that I’m sure will find a place in everyone’s heart. If book one is any indication, and I’m sure it is, this series will have you instantly falling in love with Clara and laughing at her antics on every page.Clara lives in London and works as a designer in the fashion industry. She loves her job, good food, a good drink or two (or more) and her best friend Lianna. In fact, she loves life and a good time.Suddenly, along comes Oliver, a handsome designer from America who has been hired to help revive and bring new life to their design line. Assigned as the other half of Oliver’s design team, the two of them find they work well together as he helps Clara put a new spin on the upcoming seasons designs.Soon, being teammates goes beyond the design room as their feelings for each other become obvious. However, before Oliver made his feelings clear, Clara started dating George, a bartender she met during an evening out. Just as she’s about to tell George she’s involved and has feelings for another man, thing go south. Way south!Abruptly, her simple life isn’t so simple any more as her feelings for Oliver grow, while she tries to figure out how to let George down easy.Clara Andrews, and the other characters in her life, are adorable and impossible not to like and cheer for. Lacey London has done an outstanding job developing each of them into people you can relate to, love, laugh at and cry with as they complicate each other’s life; mostly in a good way.Meet Clara Andrews is wonderfully written, easy read and full of wonderful one liners you’ll likely be writing down to use when you can. The storyline, while simple, has enough twists and turns to easily hold your interest as you giggle through the complications in their lives from cover to cover.Definitely a cute, funny and outstanding love story (and series) you’ll not want to miss.

I wanted a light read after having just read four of Wilkie Collins' challenging novels. This was just that, a lighthearted, enjoyable read. I really began to like Clara Andrews and her boyfriend. Humour was introduced in the shape of his mother. Lacey London has done a good job of getting into the character's heads and portraying them well. A good holiday read for anyone and you definitely do want to find out what happens next, especially what Janie, the mother of Oliver, will DO next!

Good easy read but have to admit I got a bit annoyed with Clara as all she seemed to do was eat and get drunk?
