When I read the blurb for this story, I thought it was just my type of read. Amity, a strong-willed young lady, gets kidnapped and forced into prostitution. Eventually, she is "forced" to be the personal sex slave for her tormentor/owner/pimp, Kerstan, under the ruse of finishing her debt payment and earning her freedom.Sounds really dark and disturbing, right! Wrong. Although Kerstan does some pretty deplorable things to her friends as a way to try and break her down, the scenes are very watered down and lack any of the graphic details that make a dark story dark. Furthermore, the way Amity responded to Kerstan was anything but fearful. She definitely didn't come across as a victim you'd sympathize with, which is essential in this type of captive story. Instead, she seems to be hot for the man she is supposed to hate. Her attempts to be convincing in her disdain for Kerstan were weak and it seemed more like Amity was trying to convince herself. If the heroine can't muster a little genuine disgust for their captor, they're a lost cause as far as I'm concerned.I realize that the author was trying to achieve the type of love/hate relationship that you see in other captive stories, like 'Captive In The Dark' or 'Tears of Tess', etc. Unfortunately, the author completely missed the mark. Amity came across as pathetic, while Kerstan came across as weak and a bit bipolar.Amity may fall into the "too stupid to live" category. Here is a captive that frequently sneaks out of her room. Does she try to make a break for it? Hell no! The idiot likes to lie in the garden and smoke while she enjoys the beautiful flowers! Dare I mention that she ended up in this situation after she decided to stay with a family of complete strangers while traveling in a foreign country? Aww. They seemed so nice. Again, not the sharpest tool in the shed. Then we've got Kerstan, the kidnapper that wants to be her friend/lover/Dom/pimp. This guy was all over the place...and not in a scary bad guy sort of way that was inherent to the storyline. Nope, you just couldn't get a feel for him or what the author envisioned for his character. Again, it seemed like the goal was to imitate characteristics of other fictional captors, but it fell short. As a result, there were a lot of ludicrous situations and dialogues. At one point, Kerstan sincerely asked Amity if she really thought he was all that bad. Is he concerned about his image as a kidnapper, or just issuing a random satisfaction survey to his captives? WTF! Is it really surprising that your slave doesn't think you're a stand-up guy? A little advice: SCARY KIDNAPPERS DON'T CARE!The highlight of this serial was a scene where Amity actually kicks Kerstan's ass! She flipped out and charged him, knocking him down and clawing at him like a pissed off cat! He can't manage to fight off the little minx, so his old, female "maid" has to pull her off of him, coming to his rescue. I laughed my ass off! Again, not exactly scary kidnapper material. At around fifty or so pages, this serial was blessedly short. However, other than providing a few good laughs, which I'm pretty sure we're unintentional, there wasn't much that this book had to offer. I'd pass if you're looking for a dark captive story.

This is the first book in Yolanda Olsen's Red Light Ladies Series. I used to be Amity Crane. I used to be successful, strong, beautiful, loved. I used to be the girl who would make guys pant when I walked by them, the girl that took the world by storm, and the girl that loved a good adventure more than anything else. I was the girl obsessed with superhero movies and devoured all the books I could get my hands on. I used to be a lot of things until three years ago... Now I’m Lieve, red light district whore extraordinaire, to be used at any male or females discretion until I can pay back a debt that was never mine to begin with. A debt that I know nothing about for a family that tricked me into thinking I had found a safe place to live. Lieve wakes up one day only to find herself chained to a bed with several other beautiful women. It doesn't take her long to find out she has been sold into the sex trade and is now a sex slave. Kerstan, the man she was sold to has a collection of beautiful women from all over the world. As their owner he sets them up on dates and prepares to break them to sell on the black market. Lieve is a fighter and her attitude is attractive to Kerstan."I glanced up at Kerstan and shrugged. Showing fear was something that he quite enjoyed and I wouldn’t give it to him. He came to stand at the end of my bed and drummed his fingers along the worn metal frame."Kerstan is so attracted to Lieve that he decides to take her as his own and use her at his will. “You misunderstand, Lieve. You will not be going out to work until it’s time. You’re now going to be mine to use until the final encounter is set,” he replied. “Y... yours?” I stammered in shock."Events move along swiftly as Lieve becomes Kerstan's exclusive sex slave. There are many twists and turns along the way as Kerstan plays mind games with Lieve. Lieve's attitude continues to be defiant as Kerstan tries to break her. This book ends with a cliff hanger but it will be interesting to find out what happens next."As I found myself drifting to sleep, I decided that Lieve would die that night. When I woke up the next day, I would be Amity Crane again. Fun loving, man crushing, mega bitch, Amity Crane. I would find my friends. I would free them. Or I would die trying."

Dare I say this book wasn't dark?It wasn't. And after reading handfuls of these women-forced-into-captivity books, this one was tame and felt unfinished. The kidnapper allowed the captive to mouth off smartly to him at random and she managed to hide contraband in the large home she shared with the other kidnapped women. She wasn't bound by chains or rope, wasn't monitored by cameras, and freely roamed outside unsupervised. She had daily access to a lighter, cigarettes, eating utensils, and writing utensils, but never attempted to escape. Her kidnapper was either very complacent in his position, or the victim was willingly being detained. This story just seemed underdeveloped all around and the ending only created more unanswered questions. I've enjoyed other books created by this author and look forward to reading more of her other stories.

I was so lucky to receive and ARC of this book by Yolanda Olson. The prologue for the story tells you about the girl before the incident. Yeah she is not the nicest person, but she has tried to redeem herself. All the good she has done to her life and the changes she has made get snatched away from her in an instant. Then it is a life of darkness, terror and uncertainty. Lieve as she becomes is strong, and smart. But this does not prepare her for people who are stronger and smarter at times than herself. Despite the setbacks she experiences and they are many she is still a resilient character that refuses to roll over and give in. I loved this side to Lieve sometimes females in these books can be meek and breakable, but this character tries with all her might to not be like that. Yes it is most certainly hard and at times she falters both with her conviction and her feelings towards the man who is holding her captive. But who is this man who is holding her captive? He is i am 100% sure not what he seems, and who is the man or woman behind the figurative curtain? I have my thoughts but i will not voice them here as you have to read this book to deduce your thoughts. Yes this is a dark book, and it deals with difficult subject matter (sex slaves and sex trafficking) but the difference between this and other books i have read is that there is not a lot of sex written it is implied apart from once it is more the story of strength of character in such a dark desolate situation, and how to stay who you originally are not who they want you to be.

WOW!! Amazing!! Let me start by saying that Yolanda never fails to deliver a heart stopping story no matter what the genre is! I was given this book for an honest review! Let me just say I could NOT put it down! It's part of a dark serial series so it's a quick read! I don't usually like serials but I'm hooked! Amity had everything: beauty, spunk, heart & loved adventure. Unfortunately, she loved the male species a little too much & cheated on the love of her life! In an attempt to find herself, she decides to travel to the international cities that she dreamed about! Well this didn't go as planned! Amity finds herself in a heap of trouble which starts the dark chain of events! My heart broke for Amity aka Lieve & the other girls! She finds herself fighting for her freedom along with several others for a reason that is lost to her & the reader! Kerstan is a rate A monster! He's evil, pure dominating evil! He's job....trading lives & using women to repay debts! Some of the things that he ordered & did made me cringe! I really can't wait for the next one! I have to see what happens! I'm not usually a fan of dark but this one has my intrigued!

Yolanda shows her dark side again in this sinister smash hit!!! Imagine, losing yourself, your love, everything to drugs, but then trying to straighten yourself out you are sold into prostitution. That is exactly what happens to Amity Crane. All she wanted was to see some sites around the world, then go home to pick up the smashed pieces of her life. But she ends up waking up in a strange place, and is told she is there to work off someone else's debt. She is very head strong and that is her undoing, because when she shows any affection to any of the girls shes with, they are used to discipline her. In her need to not cooperate, she finds out she is not there for a debt, someone WANTS her there, to be broken and trained...but who is this mystery person???

All That Matters (Red Light Ladies #1)By: Yolanda Olson4/5 starsAmity Crane had a rough childhood and then had a learned to get past it with the help of Theo, who started out as just her friend and then gradually became more as she felt the safety of his arms, his embrace, his patience & tenderness. But she messed that all up.After cleaning herself up, she goes on a trip around the world. She’s decided that when she is done, she will return home to make amends so that she & those she has wronged in life may move forward without the weight of the past. But before she can make it home, she is stolen and sold into slavery and becomes a whore in the Red Light District of Amsterdam. There are twists and turns in figuring out the who, what, when, where, why & how of the entire situation. Amity’s feeling also become muddled with the sadistic man who owns the whore house and all the women in it. This is the start of a serial, but on the Amazon page, it wasn’t listed as to how many novellas will be in this serial. This was a very short novella. And the timeline jumped over a year after she was captured. We didn’t see anything that had happened at that time, only were told about it. We did see some savagery coming from Kerstan (the owner of the brothel) so that did feel true, but I felt like this was more of just background info and maybe we’ll get some actual answers in the next installment of this serial.

I used to be Amity Crane.I used to be a strong, beautiful, loved woman who took the world by storm. That all changed three years ago. Now my name is Lieve.I am now a red light district whore to be used by any male or female as they wish. I was sent here to pay off a debt that was never mine in the first place. This is my story.* Wow! That ending. I’m speechless after that. I want more of Kerstan and Amity’s story. I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very well developed. I really enjoyed the plot twist. I can't wait to find out what's going to happen next. I'm surprised at how tasteful this book was. All of the horrible things that happened in this were not in a lot of detail and with those scenes that a good thing. With the amount of details I could still picture it being played out in my mind without it being to violent. Yolanda did an amazing job on yet another fantastic story. I definitely recommend this book.

Amity is a fighter, you can tell that from the beginning. Early on she had it rough and pushed through, however she slipped up and lost the one she loved to drugs and infidelity's. She decides to get clean and the only way to accomplish that is to take a trip. She plans to come back and win her lovers heart once again once she fully rights herself. However she had no idea just how wrong she was.You feel so many emotions while reading this book, sadness, pain, hurt, sorrow, confusion and disgust and yet most of these are mixed with a yearning for more and wondering why the darkness is so attractive to you. Yolanda did an amazing job with this book as well as her other Saving Riley. I can't wait to read more from her and definitely recommend this book. The only issue I had which is why I gave 4 stars was the editing mistakes. I typically wouldn't base the review off it but right from the beginning there were so many mistakes that took away from the flow of the book.

I was given an ARC for my honest review.I absolutely loved this book. It is the beginning of a serial, but has you drawn from the beginning. Amity s basically kidnapped and made to pay off a debt that isn't hers in the first place in a whore house. All other girls are scared of Kerstan the head of the house but not Amity she is stubborn and strong. But it seems everybody who gets close to her gets punished or sent away for befriending herKerstan though cant figure out Amity and starts to tell her things such as How somebody set this up to make her have to do these things. And has requested for her to be broken down. But Kerstan doesn't want to give up Amity he is intrigued by her. and this is where this on ends. We are left with Amity wondering who has set this up for her and how she will rescue her friends. I cant wait to read the next to this serial. Yolanda has me hooked and I need more.

I am so lucky to have been gifted this to leave an honest review. I absolutely enjoyed and loved reading this. It is amazing! It's very intense and keeps you pulled in till the end and it will leave you wanting more as well, as it has done to me. The characters are described in great depth to where you have a great visualization of them. I really feel for these girls because they are stuck here, paying off debts. Lieve just wants her debt paid so she can have her old life back, and to do that she has some decisions to make that aren't easy. This book is filled with disobedience , innocence, hate, regret, passion, guilt and so much more! Very well written.

Dark and twisted! It was my first time reading from this author and what a surprise! Her writing style, captured my attention since page one! It was such a different read and it was just what I needed to get me up from my reading slump! I loved Amity and her courage to stand up, against the toxic world she was induced to live in. Also, there's an air of mystery that got me in an urge to keep reading! Basically, I can't wait for part two and hope to read more from this author!

I couldnt help but be drawn to Amity/Lieve, and empathise with the impossible situation shes stuck in, not that it breaks that tough exterior of hers! I love this dark and gritty journey shes going on! bring on book 2

What a thriller! This is a dark read but it pulls your attention to it and doesn't let it up. Amity is in the worst situation you could possibly be in and her strong determination to get out keeps her going. She's got a set bigger than any mans. This book has some twists and turns that will have you turning the page till the end. I can not wait until the next book comes out. Yolanda Olson is such a brilliant writer. I'm a huge fan an will always be one. Highly recommended.

Well damn. I read this in one sitting. The story has a nice balanced flow that keeps the plot intriguing. I wanted to know everyone's story, Amity, Kerstan and the girls. (without giving it away) there is a part where I wanted to help poor Minni from what she had to endure. Amity is a strong-spirited and energetic girl despite everything that she encounters in her life. I just wish the story was longer. I want to read more.

Yolanda has yet again drawn me in. This is not a Lovey,Dovey story but about the courage, determination and some may say stupidity of a young girl forced against her will to pay off a Debt that isn't hers and try to keep her identity, NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY TRY TO TAKE IT FROM HER ! I got to the end and did not want it to stop. I EAGERLY await book 2 !!
