As a new reader to the erotica genre it took me a bit to get into this book. To say the sex scenes are "steamy", "brazen" and "creative" is an understatement and you get into that perspective immediately. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the characters had real depth. Even multimillionaire, Jack Loving, wasn't shallow. He was a take charge type in the bedroom and as a lawyer but as one of the "Good Samaritans", he truly cared about people. Throw in multimillionaire, Mark Chesney, and it's unreal. As Chesney is introduced to Lizzie McIntyre the dynamic takes an unexpected turn. As a mother of two with a worthless husband who gave up on life and turned to booze, Lizzie finds herself as an escort to the dashing Chesney. He not only wants her but respects her and does all he can to help her care for those children. In fact, the wife of Jack is the only shallow character in this story but that is caused by a manipulative upbringing. At times, you even sympathize with her. All in all, a fantastically written book. I'm still adapting to the erotic scenes as it's not my general genre but even those parts were explicitly and imaginatively written. This honestly puts 50 Shades of Grey to 50 Shades of Shame. I am impressed!!! Highly recommended- 5 star read!

The Good Samaritan is Jolie Mae Miller’s debut novel and debut series. Let me start off by saying this is a good start to her career. I love the characters and the situations they find themselves in especially the last 80% of the book. I did find the first 20% a little confusing and I had difficulty following who the characters are. Not because it isn’t well written but because it jumps back and forth between couples and past and present. In fact I made a little cheat sheet after the prologues to keep track of the couples. I get why the information is presented it is important to understand the characters and their lives. It is just hard to follow. However, once I passed the transition chapter (Chapter 8) I was hooked. The story takes us through the journey two couples travel from falling in love until their lives take a mean turn after several years a marriage. Both couples, Lizzie and Jeremy and Victoria and Jack love each other and build a solid life together.Jeremy loses his job and becomes unemployed for a long period of time. Alcohol becomes his best friend. He uses alcohol to take him away from the failure he thinks his life has become. Lizzie doesn’t know how to deal with the new Jeremy and his addiction. It is especially taxing after he sells their possessions, including their dream house, to feed his habit. After years of being a stay at home mom Lizzie must find a job but she doesn’t have the skills to make the money she needs to support her family. She decides on a position that is lucrative and changes her life completely.Jack is a wealthy man with a large trust fund that he uses to help others in need. He is The Good Samaritan. Jack is compared to people like prince and princesses. “While I will never rule a kingdom, I am one of those few unfortunate individuals having strong family commitments controlling my future.” He has to accept that his life choices are dictated by the fact that he must administer a family trust with his mother. The trust helps many people in need in the Virginia area and is the legacy of his grandfather on his mother’s side. Jack’s career is “safe” to eliminate the chance that he might die too young if he pursues a more hazardous position like law enforcement. Victoria, his wife, is a gold digger. She likes Jack’s money and all it allows her to have. I see her as a weak, wishy-washy woman with little time even for her children but she really loves her husband. Victoria’s attitude and issues are understandable because of the way she was raised and she has secrets. There are secrets that can change her life. It is a shame she is so weak because Jack loves her too and would do anything for her. Instead of trusting Jack Victoria betrays her husband in the worse way.The story has a few twists and turns that keep the reader interested and wanting more. In addition to the main characters there are a few more worth mentioning, Ms. Martin, Lizzie’s boss, Mark, Lizzie’s friend and associate, Cindy, the wicked witch and Lizzie’s friends, who have entertaining and funny girl’s nights out. There is a big cliffhanger that is going to change the dynamic of the story in the next book. There isn’t any way it won’t. I want to find out what happens next so I hope that the spring release posted on Ms. Miller’s website is correct. This is a really good story.Received an ARC for an honest review (less)

Great Read! How does a person will all the money in the world and then some ever trust that love is real? Jack Loving Jr is just such a person. He has a trust fund that has billions in it and it is for charity. When people find out who he is, they want to get close to his money. He meets Victoria in college and she seems different. Then there is Mozzie McIntyre, wife, mother and all around good person. When her husband loses his job, he starts drinking and they lose their dream house. When they are about to be evicted again, Mozzie answers and ad for an escort service. Her first client is Mark Chesney. He is young, good looking, and very wealthy. Lizzie and Mark hit it off and become the best of friends. When things fall apart for Jack and Lizzie's life is somewhat better, other than Jeremy drinking. Mark has an idea to bring Jack and Lizzie together, they would be good for each other. This is a great story with a heartbreaking ending. I need the next book now.

This was a difficult book to review.  The first half of the story  was ok but I found the story very confusing. I found there was far to many characters and it took quite awhile for me to find out about them and how they all fitted together in the story. This doesn't have to be a bad thing as it leads mystery and suspense to the book, but for me it was just confusing in the beginning. The second half was so much better. The story and the characters finally clicked and made me very happy that I persevered with the book.Jack is such a sweet, kind, loving and loyal character. He absolutely loves coming from a lot of money that his family uses to help others. He grew up knowing that he would be a Good Samaritan. He is a lovely character and enjoyed reading about him.  Jack met Victoria in college and was completely captivated by her. Victoria grew up knowing that she had to marry money to take care of her parents and thats all her focus was on her whole life...money, money, money. Victoria is so weak in my eyes and I didn't like that all she lived for was marring for money, even if her excuse or it was to help her parents. Victoria did marry Jack eventually and had two children together.Lizzie is a sweet women, who was very shy but can be extremely strong willed when she needed to be. Lizzie married Jeremy had they had great life. They loved each other very much and had everything they could wish for until Jeremy lost his job. Everything went downhill from there for Lizzie. Jeremy became an drunk and they lost everything. It was up to Lizzie to keep her family from being homeless and things were extremly hard for her. Lizzie finds a job and meets Mark. He is a dream come true for her. He is rich, kind, honest and very loyal.  She becomes very good friends with him and he helps her through her struggles.Mark takes Lizzie to a charity function where she meets Jack. Jack is taken aback by Lizzies beauty and sweetness. Some months later Jack finds out he has been deeply betrayed by his wife Victoria. He runs into Mark and Lizzie at another function and fate intervenes when Lizzie wins a date with Jack. On that same night many events happen and we are left to wonder what will happen between Jack and Lizzie and what will happen with Victoria? I enjoyed the book once all of the major events begin to happen. It definitely keeps you guessing about whats going to happen next and with who. Im so glad that the story picked up in te second half as its defiantly  made me want to read the next book because alot was left hanging and i desperately want to find out what happens between Jack, Lizzie and Victoria and also because the cliffhanger is HUGE! 4 Stars.  Reviewed on behalf of This Red Head Loves Books.

This genre isn't one I read regularly - but I'm glad that I've become open to exploring anything. In fact I didn't look at the genre until the book was loaded onto my Kindle Reading App and I'd decided the blurb had me intrigued. In this story the reader is treated to so much scandal - it is incredibly fun and I didn't realize it until I'd become submerged in this book but, I totally needed some good, scandalous fun.The characters are well designed and this goes for the main characters and the lesser-seen one all the same. I'm still not sure how I feel about Victoria - gold digging and weak. I think I rather like Lizzie, strong and versatile. I quite like Jack and hope to see more of him ... The point is the characters have managed to stay with me and I am relived that Book 2 is coming soon because Book 1 completely left me needing more. Each character has his or her own drama going on and it manages to bring them into the lives of the others at times. There are some fun, superficial 'problems' as well as real, bigger problems. There are girls nights out with fun conversation, and laugh out loud moments. There's little bit of mystery and some action. Oh and there is hotness. This book has it all and the only downside was when it ended and left me handing - I'm happy I didnt discover this book until a few days before the release of Book 2.Writing wise - clearly a lot of care went into this book as it is well written, well edited and physically gorgeous.

Trust is everything: The Good Samaritan by Jolie Mae MillerI was given this book in exchange for a honest review:People in general seem to think those with a absurd amount of money are stuck-up and all for themselves. It takes these folks with money to make the world go around. This story shows different sides to having "Money" and what it can do to you and your life. . Elizabeth Macintyre& Jeremy Macintyre had it all, a house they built especially for them, two beautiful children and a sexual life most married couples dream of. Jeremy loses his job, What happens when things take a turn for the worst? Do they come out on top? Jack Loving Jr. doesn't really like growing up with money, he doesn't get the life he wants because of what's expected of him. He meets a older woman Erin who he has his first sexual encounter with. To keep up with her, he studies all kinds of sexual pleasures. She leaves him to pursue her music career, he goes to college heart broken, still "very" interested in sex, studies all kinds of ways people have sex.The couples are very sexual in this book. Jack meets Victoria and falls for the sexy vixen, against his friends wishes. Throw in Mark Chesney a handsome financial philanthropist and friend to Jack and other wealthy friends. They all meet when things get hot and heavy. Can these couples survive "Money" and the problems that come with it. Download your copy to find out. It's a very well written story, you'll laugh, cry, want to punch someone.

I received this book for an honest review. This is the first work of Jolie Mae Miller that I have had the pleasure of reading. Money is needed for survival, but excessive money only leads to greed. This story portrays both dynamics. The Story flows together nicely. We meet two couples each involved in their own unique love triangle. See how all their paths cross in this well written story!Victoria's family has had a tough time dealing with debt. Being an only child, she was conditioned to find a wealthy husband. Jack lost the love of his life; Erin, as she left to pursue a career in music. Ten years and a set of twins later, Victoria and Jack not only have to deal with Erin's return, but also implications of an unforgivable crime.Lizzie and Jeremy had the perfect life. Due to the loss of his job, Jeremy lost their family home and the ability to provide for his family. Becoming a different person, seeking comfort in his booze, Jeremy forces Lizzie to become the bread winner. The employment she finds brings her guilt, but she has no choice. Mark has given Lizzie the means to support her family, but in the process has made quite a connection with her.See how their actions and consequences change their lives and each other's! I'm eager to see how things play out in the next installment!!Missy - reviewer for Mommy's Naughty Playground

I was glued when I realized this book is about my home state and towns. Lizzie is miserable in her marriage and needs to find a way out. Her husband that once was an amazing man had turned to be a worthless piece of trash. She finds an add for an escort business. She needs money quick so she applies. She gets her first job with a handsome single man that is wonderful and caring. Lizzie has a panic attack and has to explain her situation. Jack is a lawyer that is miserable with his job but won't tell his father. Victoria is his wife and only with him for his money and sex. Jack wants to be a cop but won't tell anyone or step up to make it a dream come true. Lizzie finally gets enough bravery up to kick her husband out. Mark is still treating her like a queen and making her smile. The four of them meet at a ball. Jack and Mark go way back but when Jack meets Lizzie it's like the world stops turning. But how will it end?

What a way to start a series! To say that I'm in love with these characters would be an understatement! They are real, true to themselves, and show the utmost campassion for others! I don't do spoilers or retell the whole thing. I highly recommend you read this book for yourself.I will tell you that, I love the fact that the Author gives a bit of history to the characters, she shows us why and what had lead them to where they are!Looking forward to the next book! Extremely well written story about what it is like to have it all and then lose it and then try to pick up the pieces and create a life to take care of your family, no matter the cost. Just when Lizzie thinks she has it all figured out, her world comes crashing down again. Complete review to come.

The Good Samaritan starts off with the Prologue of the lives of four people. First, we have Jack Loving, Jr. who's dream is to become a police office. Unfortunately, he is bound by money and family to end up helping the less fortunate. Than we have Victoria Winfield who is in bondage with her family. Her parents are expecting her to save them by finding a rich husband. Last, we have Jeremy and Lizzie Macintyre who are at the top of their game and loving each other fervently. At some point all four lives will mesh with each other and boy it is ever explosive.Jolie Mae Miller poses the age old question of can money truly bring you happiness? She also enlightens the reader to ponder what you would do to support a household that is drowning, ready to be left homeless? While reading The Good Samaritan I had to think a lot about what would I do if I was in the character's shoes? The Good Samaritan is a novel that will leave you contemplating what choices you would make in your life for success and family.Out of all of the characters the person I felt I could relate to the most was Lizzie. She was so selfless that no matter her bounty in life she was always so willing to give. As a reader I could understand her dilemma and when life got down and dirty my heart broke for her.The Good Samaritan builds up to the next story of The Unlikely Samaritan. There is quite a bit of back information we will need for the future story. I am actually really excited to see what will happen with all people involved. I won't let the cat out of the bag, but I believe The Unlike Samaritan will be explosive.Pick up The Good Samaritan before The Unlikely Samaritan comes out. So how epic of a story that it is.

I started reading this book five months ago. i would read a couple of chapters and put it down. This past week I was determined to finish it. Overall, I liked the book, but I must say that the first half of the book did not hold my interest (hence the five months it took to read it). First half of the book - 2.5 stars for me, second half - 4 stars. It took awhile for me to figure out what was going on. The chapters change from one character's perspective to another and I spent most of the time wondering how Lizzie was connected to Jack and Vickie. Once I was at the halfway point, things started to click and I felt more invested in the characters. The second half of the book seemed to flow in a less awkward way and the story seemed to pickup. The first ten chapters seemed to drag out longer than what seemed necessary. Or perhaps connecting to the characters sooner would not have made it feel so drawn out.I was caught off guard by the ending of the book. Just to show that my perspective of the book turned around from how I first felt, I'm reading the second one. I think I have an idea of where this is going, but since the first book had a twist at the end, I'm keeping an open mind.

Trust, money, Love, these things are the basis for a true marriage and and honest life. But when one of the three is lost, life can be more difficult. Let's see if you can't trust the other then the relationship will fail. If money is lost then the family struggles and confidence is lost and there goes the trust. In the end love is lost. In this book we get to tackle the results of all three. One with the wealth beyond your dreams. One greedy only seeing what money can buy but no love. The other has lost money and her trust in her husband, and has to find alternative ways to maintain her home. They all intertwine ans connect at some points. This make you wonder how they will all end in the end.I loved Jack and Lizzie. I don't think that Victoria is the type of person I could connect with, but In understand why she is the way she is. Can people change for the better? I think they can If you have at least two of the basic needs for a relationship~ Love and Trust. This book is exciting and will leave you wanting more. I know that I can not wait to read the second book and see more of the characters that have stayed with my heart.

When first given the copy of THE GOOD SAMARITAN to read, I was impressed by the title. Growing up, I attended Sunday School regularly and one of my favorite stories was the parable of The Good Samaritan. The idea that an enemy would care enough to help you when your friends won't is an intriguing thought. The premise of the story centers around the Loving family of Richmond, Virginia and their dedication to charitable works and causes. And like many, they have secrets that they must keep in order to remain at the top of their game. Suspense, dark secrets, sex and addiction run rampant in the mansions of Richmond. The story is told in first-person with each of the main characters narrating their parts of the story. It's a difficult technique and Jolie Mae Miller does it well. Supporting characters are well done. I especially liked Lizzie's friends and their chats. The conversations were funny and insightful, especially about Lizzie's character. It's a complicated story with little fluff but a good read as a change of pace. I highly recommend it.

The Good Samaritan by Jolie Mae Miller Independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.I have to say that this takes some getting used to for the first few chapters I sort of lost it a bit because it went from past to present back to past and there are 4 main characters in this so a lot to asked for from a reader but once you get your head around is a pretty good book to read loads of different things going on and yet they seem all connected at the same time. It will hold your interest enough to want to know what is going on. I love Lizzie and Jack characters, they have such to deal with each in their different way and I hope that they find each other in the next book. I didn't like Jeremy much but I guess that was Jolie idea for him. As for Victoria well don't get me started on her....As said before once I got my head around the beginning of the book I enjoyed it and hope that it won't be too long before the second book arrives. I will give it a 4 star and have to say a good start for Jolie's first book here is to many more to come.

AmandaI fell in love with this book right from the start! Once I started reading it I could not put it down. So this book was a little different: it is in four people’s points of view; two couples. It made me curious and I wanted to know how this was going to work. I must say the way she pulled it off was amazing.First you have Jeremy and Lizzie Macintyre who are having trouble in their marriage because he has lost his job and has become an alcoholic. Then you have Jack Loving, Jr who is married to Victoria Winfield. Victoria married Jack because her parents needed his money. But when both Lizzie and Jack discover that their respective spouses have wronged them, things start to heat up. However, when the two of them meet a new kind of spark starts flying. I can’t wait to read the next book.5 stars
