Valerie Chambers is a self-sufficient woman working her way to the top of the accounting firm where she works. She’s shed her past life of partying hard, much to the dismay of her best friend Jordan (who is still enjoying the wild party life) and is focused on being the best at what she does. Even though she is very much career driven, she still finds time to have fun once in a while. Jordan sets Valerie up on a blind date with her most recent boy toy's cousin, Edric.“Edric was simply gorgeous. No, that was too mild a word for him, he was stunning, dazzling, exquisite, damn near angelic.” And that sums up Edric… except he’s hiding a secret and that secret will change everything!Little did Valerie know that this one blind date would change the course of her life forever! She learns family secrets and the truth about herself.Ms. Gilmore does an excellent job at character development. Not a single character in this book fell flat; and that says a lot since we are introduced to a handful of people throughout. And the twist at the end….I can honestly say that I NEVER saw that coming! While story lines do tend to get predictable once it’s all put out there, Ms. Gilmore really does an excellent job in keeping the reader interested in what’s coming next. Not once did I feel the need to skip over a section because I’d already figured out what would happen next (sorry, but you have to admit you've done that a time or two because it was the same ole, same ole you've read a thousand times). The story is easy to follow and doesn't have a lot of extra information thrown in just to fill pages. The author is very descriptive when it comes to people and places and it really does just transport you right into the story. Her writing style is clean and precise. There is just the right mix of drama, suspense, humor, and paranormal in Mahogany Sin to keep the reader engaged until the very end. Bravo, Ms. Gilmore!! Your first book sucked me in and has me anxiously awaiting the next! I can’t wait to see where you lead the characters from here. Definitely a FIVE STAR effort!

Mahogany Sin follows Valerie, a sassy young woman with swagger, much to the readers' amusement, to a place of dark secrets and an underworld of sin.The action ramps up around midway, like a good book should. The dialogue and character banter in this book was cheeky and playful, without sounding cheesy which is a skill possessed by few writers. They react with consistent emotion driven by each scenario, and are easy to like. The book lends itself to the creation of a hardcore erotica edition, likely lapped up by new readers as well as those who've already had the pleasure of reading this version. One can only hope! This author is one to watch in the indie world.

I almost gave this book a 3 because of its abrupt end. However, I realized that would be petty since I really liked Mahogany Sin. This would have been a quick read if I wasn't so busy. Everything happened so fast.We met the characters then boom, craziness. Then it slowed back down and was a nice steady interesting pace while we got to know Val, Jordan, and Edric. Troy and Marie were supposed to be important but seemed like filler. Chanel was the bomb and had importance but no info was given on who she is or what her purpose was. As soon as we were introduced to the bad guys, they did bad shit and bad shit happened to them, the end. That was irritating. Cliff hanger with no continuation in sight.

Mahogany Sin is a Paranormal Romance, a genre I would not normally choose to read, but I am very happy to have found this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing has a natural and comfortable feel, like you're simply listening to a friend tell you their tale. The use of colloquial language and friendly banter in the dialogue helped to create an intimate feel of chatting with friends. The main characters are interesting and strong. Valerie Chambers is smart and feisty. She has left behind her wild, playgirl lifestyle and is an ambitious accountant. Edric is smooth, confident, charming and successful. The owner of multiple clubs, he works hard and plays hard. It is easy to like them both. They very quickly fall for each other and it is not difficult to see why. The supporting characters are equally well written. The relationship between the three girls is particularly well realised. There is a fair amount of sex in this book. It is honest and playful, leaving the reader a little hot under the collar. The feelings and emotions expressed are refreshingly forthright, particularly between the girls. This story is not only about love. Valerie soon finds herself in danger as she is stalked by a hooded woman. Her fears are soon compounded when she realises Edric is more than he appears. Valerie's life changes forever and the reader follows her on that journey, feeling her pain, overcoming her fear and enjoying her triumphs along with her. This first book in the series introduces an interesting paranormal underworld that exists in plain sight. I look forward to exploring this world in more detail in later books. The pacing is good. It reads fast and urgent in all the right places, contrasting beautifully with the slow and sensual love scenes. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal fiction.

This is one of the most entertaining and gripping novels that I have read in a long time. It starts off with Valerie Chambers and her best friend,Jordan, going to a Jill Scott concert with Jordan's date Troy and a blind date for Valerie. Now, of course, Valerie has some fears and quuestions about this date but goes anyway. They meet at a bar before the concert and in walks the most handsome man her eyes have ever witnessed. He introduces himself to her and gives Valerie his name. It is Edric. (I love this name). The attraction is immediate between these two. After the concert they go to a bar, who name I will not reveal and enjoy themselves. Valerie cannot believe how quickly her emotions have escalated around this man. Later they spend sometime on the roof of his condo and have a fantastic view of the Chicago skyline at night. Now I just described the sweet hot side of the book. As with most good authors, Miss Gilmore takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions throughout her book. When Valerie, Jordan and their friend Marie decide to travel to New Orleans to celebrate Valerie's birthday this is the beginning of the journey for Valerie. This is a most read. Keep your lights on while reading this at night, turn on the fan because the sex in this book is scorching hot. I loved reading every page and would recommend this book to everyone who is not afraid to take this paranormal journey into darkness.

Spoiler Alert!!!!1 WOW just wow I don’t even know where to begin! Valerie is a woman who is very content with her life she has her friends, her mom and her job. Her friend Jessica invites her to go out one night to a concert she lets Val know that there will be someone there for her too. Little does Val know that meeting Edric will drastically change her life. Soon after meeting Edric Val starts to have these weird occurrences she thinks that getting out of town will help her relive stress and make these things stop. Talk about your rude awakenings! During her “vacation” Edric lays it all out for her she is part demon and her life will never be the same again. Just when Val starts get used to her powers and her new life she realizes she is being stalked by another demon. Whew if it were me I would have called it quits right there! Needless to say this is not the full tale but you really have to read it for yourself. This story is full of love, sex of all kinds and some of the most romantic scenes I have ever encountered that will make you wish your man was that thoughtful! If you love paranormal romances with hot and heavy sex scenes that will leave you wanting a drink and a smoke after wards or to rip your significant others clothes off then this is the book for you! Enjoy!

Mahogany Sin is a deliciously unexpected paranormal thrill ride. In the first book of its series, debut author Kellee Gilmore introduces us to Valerie Chambers, a self-sufficient woman who is working her way to the top of her accounting firm. She is focused and determined to succeed, and has tossed aside her bad girl ways, much to the chagrin of her best friend Jordan who is still thoroughly enjoying the wild life. One evening Jordan convinces Valerie to come out for a night on the town and of course, this is the night that Valerie’s life is thrown off its rails. The paranormal twist to this story is one that is completely unanticipated and is very well done. All the while you are reading this book, you are waiting for it. You know it’s coming (after all, it is paranormal fiction) and when it is finally revealed it is both devastating and enticing, and done in such a way that you find yourself lost inside the pages all over again.Mahogany Sin is Chicago author Kellee Gilmore’s first book. The story combines her love for her city, horror movies, and paranormal fiction into one tempting story that will leave readers begging for more.

4.5 STARSSexy, self-assured Valerie has never had a man make her feel the way Edric does. She soon finds out, the feeling is not only mutual, it is all consuming. While embarking on a love affair with him, an unpleasant stranger plagues her dreams before showing up in her reality. Threatening her sanity first, it isn't long before Valerie discovers not only is this shadow real, many things that she never fathomed are.Mahogany Sin is an excellent start to a new series. I was a little concerned that I would be left with an excruciating cliff-hanger but the ending was pleasantly satisfying while leaving me and the series open to book two. Not to mention the last chapter holds surprise after surprise just when you think you have a handle on the story. I feel if readers enjoy Romantic Paranormal they will enjoy this book. Definitely, Recommended Reading! See full Interview/Review at: http://www.brokenbirdmedia.com/blog/2...

Mahogany Sin, Kellee Gilmore's debut novel, was a very fun read. I purchased a signed paperback at IndieGirl Con. I am very much looking forward to book two in the series.Lately, I've noticed that I can't quite connect with the main characters in the books I read. Either the heroine gets on my nerves or I can't picture the love interest. That is NOT the case here. I loved that Valerie was not a skinny, "average-looking" chick, nor was she insecure about her curves or her looks. She found a man she liked and she went in for the kill. And Edric was so steamy that I had to clear steam from my glasses a few times. There were several twists in this book and nothing turned out the way I expected. Ms. Gilmore's writing style is very straight forward. I look forward to more of her books. I'm sitting on my hands for book two! HURRY!

A paranormal erotic fantasy not for the faint of heart. We follow the main character Valerie as she meets and quickly falls for an intriguing man who seems to have all kinds of secrets. As strange events start to plague Valerie, she learns about unknown secrets in her own closet as well. This story is full of steamy scenes and different varieties of S-E-X, so it is definitely intended for audiences 18+.I feel that the book ends a little too abruptly - right in the middle of the action - but since this is a series I'll let it pass. Looking forward to reading more of the Valerie Chambers series!

I loved it!! I received this book as a birthday present from a dear friend who had the author sign it to me I read it and was so happy I did. I normally can figure out what's going on in a book and I must admit this time miss Kelly got me. I was so excited when I finally got towards the end of the book and it was not what I was expecting it was a awesome twist. I can't wait for the second book to come out.

For me this is not my cup of tea. I was so excited about the POC. However, the story started off a little slow. Which I could deal with but what I could not handle was the sex. It was too graphic. I don't like erotica. Also, this book read like street lit, which I do not read.My favorite incubus series is by Larissa Ione. Wonderful. Check that series out.I can't recommend this to my nieces.
