I actually enjoyed this, it was short and cute. I'm just giving 3 stars based on the fact that there wasn't a lot to it. It's more of a novella. It's a fun series, you just have to go into it knowing the books are short and the romance moves fast. They remind me of Brazen books. I just realized there are a ton of them, I think this series has 15 books!

Warning: features a heroine determined to fight for those she cares about, a protective hero with a very interesting piercing, and some holiday magic. So this week I'm in the mood for Christmas! So I'm breaking out some of my Christmas shorts ~ beginning w/ Katie Reus! This is from her Red Stone Security series, but it can totally be read alone as a short story. For this review I'm going to focus on Travis, our hero ~ because, well, I ADORED him! I'm such an Alpha kinda gal ~ and Travis has SO many Alpha traits. He's BIG, he's tattooed ALL over, he's PIERCED ladies (uh huh, I DO mean THERE!!) and he's all huggably protective over Noel. But as hawt & sexy as he is, he's gun shy ~ he's had his eye on our girl Noel for some time, visiting her coffee shop & chatting her up and just too damn shy to ask her out. He's had some bad breaks and while he's NOT a feel sorry for me kinda guy, he's very private & not open to relationships...but he's head over heels for Noel, and scared to his piercing she won't feel the same way when he asks her out. OMG, it's SO sexy and sweet & I LOVED it! Katie Reus throws in a some suspense, and some AMAZING leading up to the act scenes...this is one you NEED to read, peeps! Totally got me in the mood...yeah, and for Christmas, too!!

HOT DAMN WOMAN!!!!! You know i LOVE your books, Katie, but when you feature a tattooed, former Marine "bad boy" (he's really a sweetie) WITH a (view spoiler)[cock ring (hide spoiler)] *runs around screaming with lust* , you send the story into a WHOLE NEW STRATOSPHERE!!!!I JUST LOVE THE MEN OF RED STONE SECURITY!!! What a GREAT holiday-themed addition to the Red Stone Security series!! A sexy, suspenseful novella! BRILLIANT!!

I read this book as part of the box set Eight Nights with a Hero. Travis Sanchez is in Noel Baskov’s coffee shop when the family of the young girl she mentors is threatened. As she rushes to assist Travis decides he needs to help and the story begins. Travis has been attracted to Noel for a while but never made a move, until now! The book was a little bit bigger then the normal Hero/him rushing to the rescue of Damsel/her (and yes, those books can be fun) because the story is also about them exploring their attraction and getting to know each other.

MIAMI, MISTLETOE and MURDER (Red Stone Security #4) by Katie ReusMIAMI, MISTLETOE and MURDER is the 4th storyline (October 31, 2012 release) in Katie Reus’s Red Stone Security contemporary romance series focusing on the men who work for Red Stone Security in Miami Florida. This is Travis and Noel's story.Travis Sanchez is a former marine currently on paid vacation from Red Stone Security where he just completed a rough assignment. A quiet man, Travis hides behind the façade of several tattoos and body piercings. And Travis has only one woman on his mind-Noel Baskov. Noel is the owner of the local coffee house that Travis has frequented for over a year. And it has taken Travis some time to get up the nerve to ask Noel out. But on this day, Travis will find Noel worried about a young girl whose mother is being harassed by an ex-boyfriend.When Travis and Noel arrive, they will soon discover that the ex-boyfriend is armed and to protect Alisa and her young daughter, Travis will have to make a split second decision to save innocent lives. But Noel and Travis will soon discover that not only was the ex-boyfriend looking for revenge, but someone else is now hoping to make trouble for Alisa and the man who saved her life. And to do that, he will go through Noel to exact his revenge.Travis is the quiet hero who is reluctant to make waves or involve anyone in his private affairs. Two deployments overseas have forced Travis to take a long hard look at what he wants and he wants Noel. When the couple are finally able to have some time alone, Travis’s seduction of Noel on a park side bench is amazing. You could almost feel the electricity and stomach curling sensation. For any man to pull off that feat under the blanket (in public) all I can say is—swooooon much !!!Most of the action takes place the week before Christmas, and like many novellas, the relationship is very quick to develop. Travis and Noel had been dancing around each other for close to a year and when Travis is ready to take the next step he will find himself both guardian and protector to the woman with whom he was falling in love.MIAMI, MISTLETOE and MURDER is a fantastic storyline with some mystery, seduction and one hell of an amazing bedroom sequence where we discover the use of one particular body piercing for Travis and Noel. Everyone needs to find their own Travis Sanchez-even if for only one night !!!!!see all of my reviews at : thereadingcafe.com

Despite my good intentions I haven't gotten around to reading Reus' Red Stone Security romantic suspense novels yet. I really need to as this story reminded me why I enjoy her writing so much. Travis is the kind of hero that is to die for--strong, caring and surprising in the best (most delicious) ways. I found the fact he was so uncertain about how Noel felt to be sweet. His sensuality is sizzling from the first page and I admit, like Noel after hearing about his piercing I was intrigued. And his tattoos. Okay look I think I might have a thing for Travis. That said I really liked Noel too. She was sweet, a bit stubborn, made logical decisions, protective and smart. She also apparently baked and cooked like a charm. In short she's everything I could ever want in a romance heroine. This story packed a lot into its short length. Though things move fast between Noel and Travis, the truth is they've been dancing around each other for a while yet and if Travis' boss hadn't pushed him to take a week off, who knows how much longer they would have stayed in limbo. I liked that neither immediately jumped the gun--they still felt each other out, flirted and asked questions. Sure the heat was sizzling, but that didn't stop them from figuring out if they were compatible otherwise. The danger was tense--first the whole thing with Juanita, then the revenge for how that went down...the revenge part felt a bit too much. Not filler exactly, but a way to extend Noel and Travis' problems. Truthfully the secondary plot wasn't much--Travis is too damn good at his job to let it get too far and that meant he took care of everything quickly. This story makes me want to read the other books even more now and is a great entry way for new readers as its fairly stand alone as well.

First foray with the author Katie Reus. And she has came highly recommended from a great many book friends. Will admit the "piercings" and "tattoos" of the hero grabbed me at the get go. The combination with an alpha man excites me. Or perhaps that is my love for bands like Motley Crue and the like taking center stage. I find a pierced and tattooed man sexy! * Laughs * First page and the mohawk made me grin and think of my middle son. Who for several years now has sported one. So that is another kudos to Katie. Need more tattooed, pierced men... With long hair. LOL! Sorry thought popped in.4% in - So far I am really liking Travis's character. From the incerpt yeah I get he has piercings and tattoos and indications in the first couple paragraphs had a mohawk but that does not make one a bad-ass deliquent. I'm liking his personality - thus far 7% in - Awww what a doll Travis is proving to me. I actually like the contrasts to his person. Looks alone one would expect a foul-mouthed, don't care about anyone but me persona but that's not Travis. Wow - Miami, Mistletoe & Murder was both sweet - with Travis and Noel's relationship, the way they interacted with each other... and I'm not sure how many times I did the mental "AWWWWW!" with how sweet Travis was toward Noel. The epitome of what a man should be! Not only sweet but spicy HOT. That sex scene.. Wow.. Mmm I have to get the first two books. I'm sort of reading them backwards because the hero really caught me on this. Another note I wanted to add. This may be a christmas story... however Katie did not overdue it. Some make it too cloying that you just don't want to be in the Christmas spirit..

This was a good short novella that had a complete story. I wasn't left hanging at the end. Yes it did move very very quick. Like seriously quick. They were dating & pledging their love for each other in a couple days... I'm not really sure how this book & characters fell as far as the series, but even though this book had conflict... Bad guy trying to avenge his brother's death...It was over & dealt with quickly. The tattooed character's cover photo didn't fit the description at all. This time it really didn't bother me, but... Neither character fit for me. I did like the story & found it definitely worth the read!! A great Christmas story that it didn't matter one way or another what time of year it was.

I wish this book had been longer, of course as a fan of the series I knew it was a novella. I still wanted more though.Travis was a very intriguing hero not what you would expect; the sexy pierced and tattooed man had me wanting more. I liked Noel’s character as well. I don’t have too much to say without spoiling the book, all I can really tell you, is it was well worth the cost and I would absolutely recommend this book as I would the whole series (each book is a standalone book, I actually read the series out of order and was still able to follow all that was going on)

I really enjoyed this short book. Once I was finished I wanted more... I love how the relationship Between Travis and Noel starts off sweet. I also love how protective Travis is towards Noel and the people she cares about. My only complaint is how short the book was. It was packed with a good story, just short.

Sometimes you don't need a full length book to say what needs to be said. This is such a book. A complete story about two people perfect for each other with just enough back ground to fill you in... Love this group of guys and the gals who tame them.

Travis Sanchez has been gifted with a mandatory paid vacation by his boss. As a loner he finds himself without much to do. He is dedicated to his work with Red Stone Security. Now seems as good a time as any to go see the owner of his favorite coffee shop, a woman he has been crushing on for over a year. Noel is not shocked to see Travis. He is one of her regular patrons and happens to be the star of all of her fantasies. His timing is just off. She is running out the door to go help a friend who has been threatened. So in the end it would seem that Travis has perfect timing, and he certainly has the skills that she needs. This is such a sweet novella. I loved Travis and Noel. Travis is yummy. He’s got tattoos and piercings and the icing on the cake is that he is so caring. He is also tough and has the protective instincts that Noel needs in her life at this moment. The fact that he wants to be in her life is a sexy added bonus. Noel is compassionate and offers Travis the warmth that has been missing in his life. There is a mild suspense element in the mix. Noel has inadvertently put herself in a precarious position and she has taken Travis with her. Travis knows how to handle the situation though. His experience from time in the Marines and now with Red Stone Security will keep them both out of danger and in each other’s arms.

This is the 4th book in the Red Stone Security series and features Travis and Noel. If you have read the others, you won’t be disappointed with this one. It could be read as a standalone as well since there are not a lot of secondary characters in this book. Katie always seems to have a good plot in her books and it adds some suspense, which I prefer to have in a story. I really liked the buildup of the relationship between Travis and Noel. Even for a novella, there was some great character and relationship development. Their relationship started out slow and they got to know each other first. Neither of them had overwhelming lustful thoughts about each other, which I thought was more believable. I tend to like the romance/courting stage and getting to know one another before they have serious intimate thoughts about each other in a book. The only full intimate scene in this book was written very well and really matched the characters. Travis is such a sweetheart and Noel understands him very well. They would have been a great couple to follow in a full length novel. I highly recommend!

Miami, Mistletoe & Murder by Katie Reus is a novella in the contemporary romance Red Stone Series. I was provided a copy of this book by Crush Star Media and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book was published in October 2012.Travis is in between missions and his boss has decided he needs a little down time. It's Christmas, not Travis's favorite time of year. He would rather stay busy. But, this could give him a little time to make progress with Noel, a coffee shop owner. Things get off to a bumpy start though when Noel receives a distress call and she and Travis wind up in the line of fire of a domestic dispute.Noel feels bad about getting Travis mixed up in all the drama, but Travis is happy for the chance to see more Noel.Travis is a hero that you are going to love. Military, washboard abs, and inked, as well as having a few strategically placed piercings.Noel is strong and spunky, the perfect match for Travis. Miami may be warm in December, but Travis and Noel will make it the hottest Christmas on record.Overall this one gets a B+

A mite repetitive about his tats and piercings, but great characters and good fast-paced story.Favorite things about our hero - He’d never slept with a woman he wasn’t in a relationship with. Casual sex just wasn’t his thing. Never had been. How refreshing & rare AND (see below)QUOTE: Travis couldn’t believe Noel had actually come to the police station for him and then invited him back to her place. Everything about Noel screamed class, and deep down, he knew she was out of his league. She’d mentioned having a master’s degree in business once and it only reminded him that he still hadn’t managed to finish his associate’s. He’d started taking classes online but with his job schedule it was hard. It wasn’t like he needed a degree, not with how well he was doing at Red Stone, but he desperately wanted one. He’d promised his mother he’d go to college after the Marines and hell, he wanted a better education.

Katie Reus has an uncanny ability to pull a reader into the story from the very first sentence. She did just that with Miami, Mistletoe & Murder. She wrote two great characters that the reader could connect with and stay invested until the end.*Sigh* Travis Sanchez...what woman would not want him? He is tall, tattooed, and pierced--factors that the heroine-Noel did not miss. I like how once Travis decided to go after Noel he went full force. I also liked how Noel did not play coy or act weak. Of course, Katie Reus has a reputation for writing strong female characters. One of the many reasons I love her books. The story between Travis and Noel is a beautiful love story with a touch of suspense. The story flows so smoothly I never realized it was a novella. The writing gods have truly touched Katie Reus. She can't write fast enough for me--I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Cute little novella that was both sexy and entertaining. The murder isn't really murder and the villain is ridiculously stupid. But Noel and Travis were too adorable for me to really care. It's a very condensed story and I feel it could have been better served as a full length novel with a mysterious villain (instead of "Hi, I'm the bad guy!) and more suspense. I apparently needed a quick, light read because I enjoyed it more than I feel like I should. It's something I'd usually read and go "Oi, seriously? This is silly." But whatevs. I'll like what I want, when I want.Also... HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU NAME A GIRL "CHRISTMAS NOEL" AND THEN NOT USE A "MARRY CHRISTMAS" MARRIAGE PROPOSAL?!!?

I normally stay away from novellas, but I have become a huge fan of this series and Ms Reus, so of course I had to listen to it.In this one Travis Sanchez, a former Marine and member of Red Stone Security, and Noel Baskov, coffeehouse owner, are the main characters. These two have had their eyes on each other, without taking a step forward. Just when they are about to take it, Noel’s Little SIster calls her for help. Travis comes in to safe the day. That side of the audiobook gives us the mystery, murder and action. But I feel the story is more about Noel’s and Travis’s relationship. Ms Reus gives us an edgier, sexy relationship that is off the books. So for an entertaining story to be listened to in an afternoon, this one is the one for you.I was gifted this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I love Travis and Noel's story. This book is full of sexual tension, longing, suspense, angst, and love. Travis is the mohawk, tatted good guy that looks like a bad boy and thinks he is not good enough for Noel. They have had feels for each other for many months before Travis finally got his nerve up to ask her out on a date. This book grabbed me right from the beginning. I look forward to reading more of this series.

Awwwwwe I've always thought there was a sweetness about Travis that pulled me in. Maybe it was the tattoos....or maybe the Mohawk.... I'm not sure but it was something. Now finding out Noel's actual name was eye opening and funny at the same time. What I notice is that in these books, Miami isn't short of any crime.. it's heavy lidded.. loved it.
