The Usborne Internet-Linked Encyclopedia of Ancient Egypt (History Encyclopedias) Reviews
This encyclopedia is a fantastic resource for older students! It would probably be best for middle and high school students. It has beautiful images, maps, and drawings that make it a very interesting encyclopedia to simply sit with and explore. Students can use this as a resource for research on specific information about Ancient Egypt, or even to gain an overview understanding of Ancient Egyptian life. This encyclopedia does more than provide factual information, however; it asks students challenging questions that will propel them to think deeply about their own perspective on this period of history. Once students have learned information from studying this book, it could be an excellent starting point for Socratic seminars, class discussions, and debates. The final beauty of this encyclopedia is the "internet-linked" feature. The book provides website suggestions for students to do even more in-depth studying, researching, and discovering. This would be a great opportunity for classroom teachers to integrate technology and help students build internet research skills, while still pairing it with an authentic, physical text.
