When I was a child we used to start each Sunday with a cooked breakfast and a video taped Hammer House Horror film. The Psychic would have fitted into one of the portmanteau style of movie brilliantly. The main character of this story is a con artist who finally gets a taste of her own medicine. I won't go into further detail because I don't want to spoil the twists in the tale.I have updated this review. I originally complained of grammatical errors, turns out Margarita knows more than me on teh subject. Apologies and I humbly give the four stars I promised...You should read this - its fun!

Review of The Psychic by Margarita Felices5 StarsI enjoyed this story tremendously, with its delectable premise, vivid settings, imagery (some of that imagery is spookily potent!), and its combination of a moral with a life lesson needing to be learned. It was compact, with no loose ends, and I consider it a re-reader as well.Beryl and her late husband Charlie were lifelong con artists, fleecing many out of hard-earned and needed savings. Unfortunately, they always did so with impunity-until Charlie passed away very unexpectedly, and Beryl found herself in dire straits. Then, quite by accident, she discovered and began to employ a fortune-telling venue, which proved quite lucrative, and grew it into a blossoming practice including séances. But one night, two people are present whom Beryl can’t account for, and one proves to be a nasty investigative journalist; the other, quite something else. This is a don’t miss, both for aficionados of Spooky, and for those who simply enjoy good writing in a well-turned story.

I enjoyed 'The Psychic' immensely, it was a short story that definitely packed a punch. I loved how much it reminded me of classic horror movies which were not about in your face horror but subtle horror, the kind of horror when you are convinced that there is someone behind you when there is not. Beryl is a great character to read, she is so confident with her ongoing con and has no qualms about how she makes her money but she sees the error of her ways in the scariest way possible.A great story, I would love to know what Beryl does next, well worth a read.

This is a super short story! I loved it!Beryl Parker is a fascinating character. She is a very shrewd woman, who spots an opportunity to make some cash and grabs it. I 'm not sure about my feelings about this lady. On the one hand I really liked her, but on the other, I didn't like her profession. Conning people out of their hard earned cash disgusts me morally; Maybe I'm just too honest! This story is a delightful tale full of twists and turns. The book starts off slowly, but quickly builds into a suspenseful and spooky ghost story that sent shivers down my spine! As it is a short story, I finished it within fifteen minutes. I do wish that it was a little longer, but sometimes it's better to have quality over quantity. The characters were quirky and interesting. The ending has a surprising twist that I didn't see coming, and I guess that Beryl didn't either! I wonder if Beryl is still practicing as a medium, because it would be interesting to see if her services are still being utilized by "the other side"!Margarita Felices has written an intriguing ghost story that kept me glued to the pages. I loved her writing style, which flowed wonderfully. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.I recommend this book if you love horror or ghost stories tinged with dark humour. - Lynn Worton

The Psychic is a short story about a woman named Beryl who was left pretty much destitute after the death of her husband. As a way of making money, she decides to perform psychicreadings. This may very well be my shortest review ever, but at fifteen pages this was a very short story. The author, Margarita Felices, sent me this book along with another work in return for an honest review.Although short, this was a well written little tale. The storyline wasn’t really unpredictable. I wasn’t totally surprised by the outcome the story, but I still appreciated the characters, and the style of her storytelling. With a story this short I feel it is imperative to capture the reader’s attention immediately for it to be successful, and that is just what the author did. Felices proved that you can still produce a complete story with substance in just a few short pages. The Psychic was a fun little read for me. I liked the fact it was just a simple short story that entertained me for a little while.**Reviewed by Teresa D. for**

What a little gem of a story! I really loved this and I found I couldn't put it down. What a cracker! This is the second story from Ms Felices that I've had the pleasure of reading and yet again she has delivered the goods. What a tale of the unexpected it was! It twists and turns like a twisty turny thing! It's very well written with a very clever plot and is darkly humorous in places. A big well done for the curve ball that Ms Felices delivers as its not very often you get that in a story these days. I'm not giving anything away about this one as it will spoil it so I strongly urge everyone to go buy it and read it . I hope that Ms Felices considers composing a book of these kind of stories as I'm sure it will be greatly received by all those who love a good read. It would definitely be a purchase I would make. I'm looking forward to more from the imagination of Ms Felices what a great place it is :) I give this 4 stars, a very good little read. I wanted more! :)By Kay.G (Admin) on behalf of Bex 'n' Books

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I got The Psychic by the author Margarita Felices as a free download from Amazon.Beryl Parker's and her husband Charlie were con artists. When Charlie ups and dies on Beryl she is worried what she is going to do without Charlie. She's like "how is she going to pay the bills?" "How is she going to survive with out Charlie?"Then one day Beryl decides to set up her own little scam. Beryl decides that she will become a fortune teller after she sees someone else doing the same thing. It is not long before Beryl's little scam pays off. She is making a lot of money and has her own little house a grand Victorian with money in the bank. The Psychic a great little read. While it is a short story it reads like a full length novel. The Psychic was one of those little reads that you just can't put down. You want to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next.

Not normally my style of story, but a good and interesting little read. Very short, however still manages to have a lot going on and create an interesting little tale. The ghost character was intriguing, I'd like to learn more about her!
