For Danika, the only thing worse than going commando while wearing a fugly, silver bodysuit, was dealing with her deadbeat, ex-husband James. Catcalls, unwanted groping and lecherous stares weren’t really her cup of tea either, but she’d endure all of it and more if her new job serving cocktails at Masquerade meant ridding herself of his mountain of debt. It was just a jobFor Danika, the only thing worse than going commando while wearing a fugly, silver bodysuit, was dealing with her deadbeat, ex-husband James. Catcalls, unwanted groping and lecherous stares weren’t really her cup of tea either, but she’d endure all of it and more if her new job serving cocktails at Masquerade meant ridding herself of his mountain of debt. It was just a job, after all, and what choice did she have with James' creditors breathing down her neck? What she didn't bargain for, however, was falling heels-over-head in lust with a two-hundred-plus pound, shape-shifting immortal from Ancient Greece. On a mission to take down a parasitic demon, Ty doesn't have time for distraction. Not even when that distraction could prove to be his possible lifemate in the form of sweet, innocent, yet sexy-as-hell Danika. But when the leech he’s hunting goes after the cocktail waitress, all bets are off. Unable to resist her siren call any longer, Ty surrenders himself to Danika, body and soul, treating them both to a night they'll never forget....

My review:I have always loved Lisa’s books and I have read all of her published work, so I was really excited when I saw that she is starting a whole new series and the first novella in the series is about to be published! Cursing Athena is a fun book to read: it is well-written, there is lots of action, Greek goddess, demons, love – what else do you need?! Yes, the novella is only 49 pages, but 49 pages can contain very good reading which Cursing Athena definitely was!Regarding the plot:Ty, who is serving Athena, is sent to earth to find a demon that is killing humans and while on the mission he meets Danika – a beautiful, brave, vulnerable and sweet woman. Ty knows that he needs to find the deadly demon, and he is distracted by Danika. Danika seems exactly what Ty has been searching in his long and lonely life – a life mate. The writing is spicy and hot, which are the key words in Lisa’s books and I liked it a lot. Cursing Athena was a very good beginning to the series and I cannot wait until the next novella is out!Regarding the characters:I really enjoyed both main characters! There is another characteristic in Lisa’s writing that I love – his male characters are male with capital M, they are real alphas! Ty was gorgeous, manly, strong, persistent, a sweet to bone when it comes to protecting women! I loved it!Danika was also lovable; she was a woman with very complicated past and had her struggles to come through with. She was very brave when he learned about who Ty really is. Generally:Cursing Athena was a very good start for the series and it was fully enjoyable novella!

Cursing Athena is a novella. But don't let the length of this book fool you, because even though it's on the shorter side, it packs a powerful punch. In mere pages, we have fabulous world building, character development and steamy hot romance. Danika has a horrible job at a club serving cocktails. The only reason she has the job is to pay off her ex-husband's debt. She's groped and leered at and her boss is a complete slime ball. But still she suffers through it because she makes good money and wants to pay off the debt fast.On the flip side of the story, Ty is an immortal who takes down demons. He's incredibly hot and strong and determined, and have I mentioned he's hot? He ends up in Danika's club because he's on a mission to hunt down a demon, who is known to hang around clubs of that sort. And here's where the story truly begins.Cursing Athena is intense and steamy, and Lisa Sanchez certainly knows how to create a plot that keeps the reader on their toes and wanting more. When the story ended I wanted more Danika and, particularly, more Ty.

MICHELLE'S REVIEW:RATING : 4.25 TIDY TY STARS!!!If you like Gena Showalter’s, Lords of the Underworld series and Black Dagger Brotherhood style of man, then I think you are going to like Lisa’s new series. This tasty novella sized entree into this series was a great read. Although only 49 pages long, I could have kept reading more about Tydeus aka Ty. This little novella is told primarily over one night and we quickly become connected to Ty and Danika’s characters. I hope Mason pops up in future reads, he seems a hoot.Danika is doing what she needs to do to get by. It doesn’t mean she is easy. Enter Ty and two worlds collide, BAM!Lisa always throws in her witty dialogue when she writes and this little novella is no exception. I am already looking forward to the next full length book in this series. I would love this teaser into the series to be written into a full length book, to slow the uber uber speed dating down. This little snack was very tasty, I now want the whole meal.

I enjoyed this, it's my first time reading anything by this author but I enjoyed the story and loved the main characters! Athena has always been one of my favourites of the greek gods so I like that this is focusing on her warriors though her warriors do not seem to share my love of Athena, at least Ty doesn't anyway, haven't met the other six warriors yet but Ty is their leader! I liked Danika as well, how she was so determined to keep her head up and not let anything break her or bring her down. She's a strong character! I'm going to keep an eye out for the rest of the series releasing so I can get the other books as well!

3 1/2 starsA quick, fun read about an immortal shifter, Tydeus, who comes across his potential life mate, Danika, while he's on the hunt for a murderous demon. It's not the best time for them to meet and this leads to some confusion amidst the various challenges they both face. I would have liked certain aspects of this novella to have been fleshed out more fully but I did enjoy the the dynamics between the leads. I was glad that the heroine finally caught a break after all she'd been through.

Review can also be found here - Book Boudoir3.5 starsFirst off, I really love Lisa's writing! This is the second book of hers I've read and enjoyed immensely. Cursing Athena is a bit short but it doesn't take away from how great the story is. Their is a supernatural aspect that boosts the romantic.Ty is party of Athena's army of elite seven. They protect humans from demons. These men are hand picked by Athena to serve her. But Ty is also cursed to be a shape shifer. He is the perfect weapon-- powerful, lethal and nearly indestructible.Danika is newly divorced and struggling to support herself by working two jobs. One of which is a server in a popular night club. A place that has a skeazy boss and questionable goings on. But she needs the job to pay off the debt left for her by an ex-husband.Ty is on the hunt for a particularly vicious demon when he sees Danika. He is instantly attracted to her, unable to keep his eyes off of her across the room. Danika feels it, her body reacting instantly, even before she sees him. I loved that piece of the story-- how aware she was of him without even knowing what she was reacting to.When she approaches Ty's table, he is cold. He is a man unwilling to let himself get distracted until he finds the demon he's after. That is, until Danika's disgusting boss comes to her, demanding she give a lap dance to an equally disgusting patron. Ty decides to step in and Danika thinks that just maybe, he might be interested in her after all.Ty defends Danika, intimidates her boss and demands he buy her time himself. When Danika's soon to be ex-husband shows up she tries to get him to leave, fearing he will cause her to lose the job she needs. Things with him heat up and he drags her to a back room. He's a violent man and Danika is in danger. She manages to get away from him but he's not done yet.Danika losing her job because of her ex forces Ty to realize he needs to help her. The connection he feels for her is undeniable. When she leaves the club Ty follows her, keeping her out of harms way when someone attacks. It made my heart pound because Ty shifts into his animal. He could tear her to pieces even though he was only following her so he cold make sure she was safe. Once Ty takes care of the attacker he takes Danika back to his place... where he explains his life to her. Giving her the chance to walk away if she wants to. (Really, who would?)The vulnerability he shows really tugged at my heart. And the tension and chemistry between the two is off the charts. Cursing Athena left me wanting more, which is not a bad thing, especially given that it's not a stand alone book. I'm really curious to see where the next book goes and to find out more about the shifters and their purpose. I like the twist Ms. Sanchez used to create her little universe.Cursing Athena is available in ebook only and it's priced at a steal. Go. Read. Now.These are only my personal observations and thoughts regarding this book. Any and all books blogged about here are paid for with my personal money unless otherwise specified within the review. If you have questions please feel free to contact me.

Do you love a man who is protective, possessive and hot as all get out? Than you will love Ty. Do you ever feel like the world is against you? Always seems you are getting the short end of the stick? Then you can appreciate Danika. Can you imagine them together? You will after this story!Danika is just trying to earn money to pay off her jerk of a ex-husbands debt that she was stuck with. So her 2nd job is a waitress at Masquerade bar. Her boss is trying to hit on her sexually, her ex is trying to hit on her physically and she is forced to wear a stupid costume while it happens. Then sitting there in the bar is Ty....Ty is a warrior of the Goddess Athena. He has been cursed with immortality to find those who need justice and destroy them. His inner beast is a lion who roars with his emotions and Danika brings out the most elemental emotion there is from the moment he sees her. Ty knows from that moment that not only is she incredible but she is HIS. But he is on a mission and the last thing he needs is to find his soul mate now, but that is exactly what happens. Can he protect her and do his job? Can she accept what he is? Can he walk away? And more so when she finds out everything will she run away leaving him no choice? This is one hot story... while short you get all the understanding of what Danika's life is like (and it sucks). You understand the man behind the lion that is Ty (and you want him for yourself) and you do not want to stop reading. Can't wait for the next installment!Review by Kim up at Books-n-Kisses

Great Zeus this is addictive!Danika is having a really bad day. It gets even worse when she is late for her second job at the nightclub and the only outfit left is a skin-tight alien costume with a fugly mask. Oh, and why does she have to deal with a sleazy, pervy boss too? Ugh! Will her evening get worse when she finds herself drawn to the hot guy at table ten? She has no time to get involved with anyone at the moment, because she has to pay off her ex-husband's debt! She has to keep her priorities straight, right?Tydeus of Calydon, or Ty for short, was just doing his job when he finds himself at this particular nightclub. Who is this chic with all the right curves in this alien costume? He cannot be distracted from what he is there to do! A warrior of the goddess Athena, he is sent to hunt down a demon on a killing spree. He can't understand this strong need to protect this woman! Can he control his inner beast?Freakin' HOT!!! For being a novella, book #1 of the Order of Seven series packs a lot of punch! It is funny, and I love this paranormal world with a Greek mythology twist Sanchez has created. Read it and find out why the title is so appropriate for the story.Fans of The Black Dagger Brotherhood will enjoy this one for sure! I'm excitedly waiting for the next one!

This story is loosely based upon the Greek myth Seven Against Thebes- mighty warriors tasked with sacking the city and failing. Athena plucks their souls from oblivion, juices them up and makes them her enforcers, charged with tracking down wayward demons that escape the Underworld. Tydeus, the group's Alpha, leads the latest hunt and immediately finds himself attracted to our little Mary Sunshine... just because. This is UF/PNR, after all.All the self-pubbed mistakes apply- clumsy writing, too much telling instead of showing, inconsistent characters, etc. If this is the start of a series, it should be more developed- a few extra paragraphs and better editing wouldn't hurt anything. And where the heck is Arcade, the story's setting, anyway- an alternate dimension, parallel Earth, pocket universe? But since this is UF/PNR and we have to get right to the smexy, I guess none of that really matters right now. Maybe the answers to these and other questions is coming in the later books, but this doesn't make you too eager to find out.

I hate DNF'ing a book. I got almost half way through and I cant finish. Something about this book feels forced, its kind of annoying. I read shit like "Holy/great/sweet Zeus" and similar phrases ad naeseum. I found myself rolling my eyes and skimming a lot. This book is trying so hard to be clever and funny but it falls comically short on both counts. I instantly thought Danika, the protag, was a total fuckwit and Ty a douchewaffle.Im not giving a star rating. It seems unfair considering Im not going to finish this. This one definitely isnt for me. P.S. I saw someone draw a comparison to BDB in other reviews...Um no. Just no. Even Phury's book (The name escapes me, Ive successfully bleached it from my brain, yay!), the pussy ass crybaby of the BDB crew was better than this. You cant compete with the WARDen. *Rant over

Well, that was an entertaining read. Warning: Don't read on the train like I did. Hot, Hot, Hot. I kept looking around and giggling because I was so sure I was blushing. Honestly, Lisa knows how to write guys who blow the top clean off the hotness scale. This is one for fans of The Black Dagger Brotherhood but contains so much detail on Greek mythology and back story as to make it unique in its own right. I can't believe there is so much story packed into such a shot novella. A really great read. I will be eagerly awaiting the rest of the series.

It was a predictable read. The storyline was there, it was quick but it was there. I don't know. I liked the premise, I just wish there was more to it but then again it was a novella so it was meant to be quick.
