Holly's First Noel is a hilarious, flirtatious Christmas romantic comedy. Every element I look for and love in a book is here in this story, put together in a way that had me smiling at every page, laughing out loud more times than I can count, and wishing my science teachers had been half as sexy as Noel Coward.Holly is a girl's girl. She says things we all think, mostly at completely inappropriate times. Seriously, she probably needs a filter, but that just made me love her all the more. And Noel is strong, witty, sexy, and smart--just about everything you could want in a leading man. Plus he's sensitive, in touch with his emotions, and doesn't run for the hills when a woman expresses hers. Yes, girls, swoon now. Then get your butt over to Amazon and get this book so we can swoon together.I wasn't sure if there would be any "sexy time" moments in this story, being that it's a shorter story, but never fear. Although the sizzling chemistry between these two would've been enough without it, I'm happy to say Ms. Robertson brings the steamy, and the love scenes between Holly and Noel are positively delicious. There's only one flaw in this heart-warming, sexy story . . . it's too short! Yes, I know, I know. It's part of Entangled's Ever After line--which I simply ADORE, by the way--and therefore is supposed to be short. But I want more! No, I need more. 78 pages is simply not enough of this fun couple. I want more of my sexy English gentleman teacher!Holly's First Noel was my first book by Faye Robertson, but I can definitely say she's won herself a new life long fan. I can't wait to see what she does next. :-)

This was a really sweet story about two people at Christmas time dealing with broken hearts. Noel was so sweet to Holly when she needed a friend. Holly was there for Noel when he needed a friend, too. The ending was good!

I really enjoyed both Holly and Noel. Even though they had worked together for the past year, they both steered clear of the other, Holly being intimidated by Noel and Noel not sure what to make of Holly. But once those barriers were down, they were absolutely perfect for each other. Holly was one of those characters that was "out there". She spent a lot of time in her head and then would inadvertently ask questions or statements related to whatever conversation she had been having with herself internally. Most people, including myself, would find that incredibly annoying. But Noel seemed to understand Holly's quirk and was able to roll with it, even if he couldn't figure out who or what she was talking about. Noel seemed to spent a lot of time apologizing to his dead wife for making strides towards having a life without her. After three years, he finally felt something for a woman. He wanted the wife, the kids, the whole package. But at the same time, he felt as if he was betraying his wife and kept apologizing. It makes you love Noel for being that type of man, but also infuriated that he would think his wife wouldn't want him to have those things after she was gone. This was a really cute and sweet Christmas story about two people finding the right person in less than perfect conditions (having your long time boyfriend dump you a week before Christmas and still mourning your wife's death three years before definitely fits the "less than perfect condition" bill). But sometimes when you least expect it, the best thing falls in your lap.

Reviewed by AngieBook provided by the publisherOriginally posted at Romancing the BookLet me start off by saying that it took me about halfway through to realize that the name of this short story is very tongue in cheek. Think about that for a second. It’s always so hard to write reviews for short stories as you don’t want to give too much away, especially when it’s under sixty pages! I will do my best not to include any spoilers.Holly, no matter how soft she seems in the beginning, is actually a quite lovely woman who has a steel core. I think the loss of her relationship with “Jackass” wasn’t as sad for her as not knowing what to do with herself around the holidays was; it was obvious that they’d become too comfortable in a relationship that neither particularly cared for. I found her funny, but sometimes just a wee bit…dumbed down.Noel…I just wanted to cuddle that man! He’d been through a lot in such a short time. For someone who seemed so stuffy, he sure was a lot of fun, except around the winter holidays.I so wanted to be traipsing through Scotland in the middle of winter to a place that is so out of the way that the nearest town is an hour’s walk away. Of course I could have done without the thought of “Nessie”, but it was an interesting tidbit that was referenced to several times.Overall, I really enjoyed this short story and hope to read more of Holly and Noel in the future. There are several steamy sex scenes and coarse language.

Once again, I became wrapped up in Holly and Noel's novella and wanted more! Poor music teacher Holly gets dumped by her boyfriend over the phone during a class and Noel, another teacher, overhears the conversation. It's right before Christmas and Noel is someone who knows about heartbreak. He lost his wife during the holidays so he does something nice--he invites the upset Holly to his weekend home for a Christmas meal and the opportunity to begin the healing process. Unbeknownst to either of them, this simple gesture opens up the possibility of the two of them having love in the new year. When a story can touch you, warm your heart, and even make you laugh, that's the kind of story I love to read. Holly's First Noel is a prime example of that kind of tale. I thoroughly enjoyed this funny, witty, and melancholy love story. Sometimes love can happen when it is least expected. Faye Robertson does a wonderful job of creating complex people and placing them in realistic moments. Holly retains her sense of humor while nursing a broken heart and Noel is a nice guy even if he feels the need to be inebriated during Christmas as a means of dealing with his grief. Two souls dealing with loss come together accidentally and a flame sparks between them. As a forever romantic, I enjoyed watching these two learn to fall in love again. Holly's First Noel is charming, romantic fun and the sweet Christmas winter setting in a cute weekend getaway house is an added bonus.

Have I mentioned how much I love novella's and especially Christmas themed novellas? Well if I haven't - I'm going to now!!! This was such a cute read and I couldn't pull myself away from this once I started. I didn't want the story of Holly and Noel to end. Holly's been dumped. And it's the week before Christmas. She breaks down crying, only to be found by science teacher Noel. Who takes her out for coffee to vent about what happened. Coffee ends with Noel inviting her along on his trip to Scotland. These two are so cute, with all the innuendos and chemistry they are trying so very hard to hide. Both of them have been badly hurt and haven't quite healed.Noel lost his wife three years ago, and feels guilty having feelings for another woman. Will he overcome his fears? Snowed in at a friends cottage they learn more and more about one another and as each day passes they fall for each other. How could you not love this story?Faye's story had me laughing and hoping that the characters would have their H.E.A. Anyone who loves cute, sexy, funny contemporary romance will love this story. I will definitely been on the lookout for more books by Faye Robertson!

My thoughts:This is one of those stories that is so well done that you finish reading it wishing there were more pages in the book and thinking that your relationship is crap, no matter how great your relationship really is. Jackson is that guy we have all dated (some of us married the fool) and regretted it after. Noel is that guy we have all been dreaming about since we decided that maybe boys didn't have cooties. The characters are fantastic and the story is wonderfully written.Holly is a woman's ideal image of what they would truly love to be. She is smart, self-confident, thin and sexy, talented, understanding, and of course has perfect hair.Holly's First Noel is a fun, fast paced love story. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, completely wrapped up in the lives of the characters, hoping for the outcome you have your heart set on. The language is descriptive and the friendship they cultivate is powerful. Well worth the read.

I loved this novella because the characters were so well-developed. One minute, your heart was breaking for them and the next you were laughing along with them. Noel's story was enough to make you weep--especially fully-realized as his character was. I swear this almost read as non-fiction the characters were that real. By the end, I really felt like Holly and Noel were good together--they could heal each other. Brilliant writing and a touching love story. It's been two months since I read this, and I still think about this novella--and I have a lousy memory. I. Loved. It.

Holly’s First Noel is a funny, quirky and romantic short story from Entangled Publishing. Holly has everything prepared for the Christmas visit of her boyfriend’s (Jackson) family. Then just a week before Christmas, he broke up with her. With her heart broken, a sudden unexpected invite to a holiday vacation to Scotland by a widowed fellow teacher, Noel, sounds a great idea...who knows something happened? This is a good read especially when you’re at home and just chillin’ and feeling the holiday festivities. The story’s nice and yeah.. romantic. :)

*sigh*That hit the spot this morning. Loved the sweet romance and the underlying heat between the Science teacher and Music teacher. They just suited each other down to the bone. *snicker* That too. Who knew tweed could cover up such a lovely and mercifully manly set of...well, everything. I totally recommend if you want a *sigh* worthy read.

Holly's First Noel is a funny, sweet, romantic Christmas story set in Scotland - a lovely little bit of escapism, with a hot, slightly geeky high school science teacher. What more could you ask for in an Xmas novella? Nothing!

I really loved this. Having lived in England for many years, I appreciated the small cultural details- beans on toast and dreaded Christmas dinners! I liked both characters- both their wit and charm. It is a well told conventional romance that was laugh out loud funny as well as warm and fuzzy.
